A hockey team with a hockey stick as a logo just sounds lame to me, no matter how clean it looks.

I believe if they get put on LTIR, they player has to miss at least 10 games. So it's the other way around.

I'm 99% sure Salo's cap hit was off the books that year until he came back from injury later in the season and we had someone else on LTIR to make room for him at that point.

Gillis and Gilman were greasy bastards, Salo just happened to recover from his injury as soon as the cap space was cleared up enough to activate him from LTIR.
