In theory, that's one great addition (Yawney's) and one neutral addition (Gulutzan). That's a big step forward from two negative value assistants
- MaximumBone

Ok so whats so great about Yawney and whats so neutral about Gulu? Please, no talking out of your ass this time.

Gregor said yesterd GG and Tawney have signed contracts.

Curious if we see any movement player wise especially with ANA. Derek Grant, Vermette, Chimera all ufa's that play a two-way game. Even Bieksa.

I like bringing in Gulutzan. I feel he got more out of a Calgary team then he should've. I also like having that guy that looks at the game as a head coach. Being friends with TM hopefully he will be able to convince him to make those small tweaks a lot easier.

Ran a top to PK this year and a top 4 the year before.

Also ran their defense. A defense that seems to develop a lot of solid guys.

Both are veteran coaches who at the very least will provide a different perspective than the same voices that have been in McLellan's ear for the past decade. It is difficult to say if either is great or neutral until their roles with the team are laid out.

I will say Anaheim's PP has been pretty solid since Yawney joined the Ducks.

Are you delusional man? That Calgary team grossly under achieved under Gulutzan.

I didn't have them as a playoff team last year and they somehow made it

I really don't like the depth of the Flames forwards. When Frolik and Ferland are in your top 6 for minutes that's not good.

Who else should play though? I just don't think he had a lot of options up front. Signing Brouwer and Frolik to big money isn't the coaches fault, that's a GM issue

Sounds like Vivieros is going to come in as PP guy. I'd suspect that's why no official announcement has been made

You were a huge chia supporter and slammed anyone that said he was anything but a genius. You’ve obviously stopped coming here because you realize how stupid that was...

- Iggysbff

Actually I went through a divorce and miserable period in my life so hockey really didn’t seem all that important to me. It’s still doesn’t.

I don’t find much satisfaction in arguing useless crap on the internet lately but if it makes you feel better I think Chia made a lot of stupid moves and I don’t care if he gets fired or not.

Divorces are never fun, but its best to not have too long a pity party and to start focusing on the positives and the good times ahead.

Sucks to hear that. I don’t wish divorce on anyone. And yes the arguing here doesn’t mean much. Better than Facebook though...

Arguing hockey with a bunch of dudes on the internet can add some comic relief though.

I was under the impression he contributed to it but honestly I've found it difficult to find concrete evidence of who contributed to what.

I’m a pretty nice fellow in the real world, concious of social sensitivities, never say anything racist or homophobic generally, but I can only achieve that by unloading all my evil on the female genitalias on this site. I think its a healthy release, plus, its only comedy.

Ran a defense full of young Dmen on a team known for developing Dmen, his PK was top-10 every year but his first year with the team when it was 15 (iirc) and he has head coaching experience.

Gulutzan ran a reasonable 5-on-5 system that led to solid possession results and, based on his time in Calgary, seems to have a clear idea on breakout strategies (limited viewings). Not sure how much he influenced D systems and the PP, though so I left him as a neutral addition because he's probably better than who we had.

Sounds like that Viserios will do PP and Swift Current had best PP in WHL this year.

Really like that hiring as well, assuming it goes through

There is going to be a third add as well.
