You're not going to pick up a former top 5 pick, 21, now developed, for a late first round lottery ticket, bottom pair defensemen, or maybe goalies.
If the Leafs wanted Hanifin the price would be Nylander, not some collection of picks and B prospects. - Greyman
Totally agree, especially since Carolina really wants a first line center. |

Hanafin scored 32 points on a bad team and was -20. He averaged about 19 minutes of ice time per game. Nylander is coming off back to back 61 point seasons, probably underperformed in the second season as well as the playoffs, but is a quality asset. Hanafin might turn out really good, I suspect he will, but he's not there yet. He could be the next Jack Johnson. Leafs are better off keeping Nylander and picking up Mike Green for say 2 or 3 years until Liljegren is ready. And FFS sign Tavares already - are the suits at Canadian Tire listening?

So what you are saying is Matthews is now dictating team moves, and Babcock will push around young Dubas like an Atlantic sponge bee mop to get what he wants?
This team's management is a franking disaster. - Atomic Wedgie
I dont think I have looked more forward to a season than this one.

Yeah, despite Nylander's disappearing act in the playoffs (Matthews too), I consider the 3 untouchable.
Problem with having one year with tons of cap space means we really can only take a salary dump from a cash-strapped team, as the good UFAs are not taking 1-year deals. |

I guess the only question is if SJ wants to cut ties.
But yeah, I'm guessing he is pretty settled there.
Packing up your stuff is a pita.
I'm betting he would be willing to take below market rate to stay. |

Have you tallied up the pool? I won't call you "old man" this time as it didn't seem to work out for me yesterday. |

*Hanifin
Is amazing. You're only looking at the stats here.
He's improved considerably last season and his skating remains, imo, the smoothest thing since the invention of margarine. |

It's ridiculous.
Dreger says its Hunter as leafs gm, less than a day later it's dubas. Day later Dreger says he and everyone in the world knew it was dubas.

Green wouldn’t waive to come here at the deadline, why would he willingly sign with us? |

That sounds like alot for a 34 year old defenseman who scored only 2 goals last season. |
