If Nylander is the cost for someone like Faulk, you take your puck and go home. Don't go full Chia.

I always franking hated franking jerks like you.

FFS, it's not our fault your weird franking mom wouldn't let you stay out past when the streetlights came on, but would it really franking kill you to leave the puck so that we can finish the game?

I promise, you stupid wussy, after we finish the game, we will take your precious $1 puck and put it on your porch - so delicately and quietly that we won't wake you up while you are sleeping in your little smurf PJs, dreaming of...

Wait, what?

It was just an analogy?

Sorry, my bad.

How 'bout them Leafs?

I agree. A goal sniper like he is doesn't grow on trees. And he is just getting his feet wet. Needs to fill out that frame with some good canadian beef.

Half of me says (frank) it, let's see what Dermott, Holl, Ozhiganov, Borgman can do.

The other half says let's throw a ton of money at Carlson.

I'd take him on PIT and deal out Letang, save $3mil in the process. Letang should bring a good return, not amazing. Probably at least one team who would consider overpaying (MTL for Galchenyuk++?)

sure. nothing lost if he's on a marlies or solar bears contract.

They're moving to The Rock, so I would assume they're changing their name.

Just what you guys really need, (sarcasm), as per this article's title question; a defensemen in Justin Faulk who just recorded his worst +/- rating of (-26) in 76 games played, for any single season of his career. Speaking of his 477 Regular Season career games, Faulk despite his 74 Goals & 149 Assists for 223 Points, has a very disappointing (-109) career +/- rating.
With that, the Leafs would really consider trading for Faulk alone, or plus another piece(s) in a package that would have involved Nylander (or plus) going to Carolina? That's insane, especially after having made their previous mistake in not pursuing Ryan McDonagh heavily from the Rangers at the deadline, who could have then been acquired in some way involving Nylander. In fact, the lack of a McDonagh may have cost the Leafs from advancing to the 2nd Round, after losing to Boston and a shaky Rask in goal in 7 games in Round One.
Boston's failure also to be in the McDonagh sweepstakes, despite some key Bruins playing injured as in the Leafs match up, but with an improved Rask in goal; also cost them in losing to McDonagh and his Lightning team in 5 games in Round Two. Even worse, they paid the Rangers a heavy price instead for Rick Nash as a late February to early May rental, for one who was already known to produce little offensively come postseason time.

Tavares to sign a 1y 14mln deal with Leafs 1st of July 2018.
Then 15th of January 2019 a 7y, @9.25mln/year deal.

there is a 'hidden clause' on the first contract - in case Tavares gets a career ending injury before the extension, he'll get a 10y @3million coaching role at Leafs organization.

good news!

You're not going to pick up a former top 5 pick, 21, now developed, for a late first round lottery ticket, bottom pair defensemen, or maybe goalies.

If the Leafs wanted Hanifin the price would be Nylander, not some collection of picks and B prospects.

Let's stick with your 1st suggestion. The 2nd doesn't make sense to me either. We are still about 2-3 years from a serious cup challenge anyways. We need that D a whole lot better than just Faulk. I think Reilly and Dermott are the two keepers for sure. The rest are replaceable. Gardiner? Just not sure if he can improve or this is the best he'll be. And again, the addition of McDonaugh at the deadline might have taken us to a game 7 win, but no further. A large price to pay don't you think giving up a first rounder for an extra game?
