Care to explain how a team that overcame being decimated by injuries early in the season, was bolstered by great rookie seasons from several players and amassed 112 points might not make the playoffs?

How can anyone really be surprised that calls are missed when the game has gotten so fast? When thousands of fans can watch repeated slo-mo replays of an infraction that's virtually invisible in real time who of us would be able to watch 12 players all over the ice and do this perfectly? And virtually every infraction has a possibility of "intent" which can be highly subjective and depends on who's watching.
For many years, games were played with one referee until it became obvious that 2 referees could do a better job than one. Now that cameras are covering the games from virtually every angle, every infraction can be dissected and argued. It's inevitable that the video technology already in place for goal reviews will sooner or later be a matter of fact part of penalty evaluation.
It will be a major change but technology can't be uninvented - for better or worse, it's just a matter of time before the NHL is forced to accept it. The only question is how will it be implemented - my guess is with great difficulty because of all the people and agendas to be involved in such a move.
