Chevy did the same thing with Steve Mason, now Hellebuyck is the guy there. Can't hang a guy for 1 bad signing, Looking at Ron Francis's other work, I don't see any other huge mulligans that suggest his time as GM was a big waste and needs to be undone

Being a cap floor-ish team puts huge restraints on what a GM can do

- RoloTahmasee

I wasn't suggesting he should of been fired. Darling was like a 4 or 5 year deal. Im guessing Francis was fired because owners want to make there own mark on the team. TBH is the new staff dont f*ck up the team to bad I think Carolina can make a huge push for Tavares.

Shea Weber moved? A soon to be 33 yr old player who struggles to remain healthy, with a cap hit of 7.8m, for eight more years is on the trade market?

I can’t see any team making that move except to make the salary floor. Arizona?

^ I’d do Nylander + 1st for Weber and McCarron in a heartbeat. I’ll even drive Weber to the airport
- Gray75

Nylander's soft and was a non-factor in the playoffs. No thanks.

That is quite correct. The OEL re-signing (being reported as expected to be 8x8 or more), plus we will have to pay Keller/Chychrun/Domi(maybe) soon and don't be surprised if we go after a big dollar center in FA or via trade with the No 5 pick. We won't be a top tier cap team by any means, but I am thinking (and hoping) that we no longer have to trade for the Bolland/Pronger/Datsyuk type contracts to get the the cap floor. Might make these last 4 years of season tickets actually worth it this year with a few breaks

It's safe to say they'd consider trader either or both for the right deal.

But in a heartbeat?

Plenty of teams would just love to add either player, despite their contracts.

Weber most of all.

This talk comes up any time an elite player has an off year. They said it about Crosby and Ovechkin too, "they're in decline, get something for them while you still can, blah blah blah". I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that Price will return to form next season.

he's still a #1 defenceman, still lethal on the PP. he'll drop off but no reason he shouldn't be effective into his mid/late 30s. he'd be a perfect fit in certain situations (Toronto, Buffalo, Dallas...) not sure what he would bring in return but there would be no shortage of suitors.

Carey Price on the other hand... cannot imagine a GM out there stupid enough to take on that contract. that is going to be an unmitigated disaster in Montreal.

I read something like Dumdum wants to have some kind of organizational GM flow chart like

Did the 1C finish in the top 15 in scoring? If Yes then Did he make under the top 15 in salary for 1C, If either of these questions are a no, then trade him

Same goes for like every other position. He wants to make GMing like a computer program

It's gonna be like Michael Scott trusting the GPS and driving into a lake

Hey DoubleD

I actually think Price is the one who will return to form. The concern I would have there is that his play keep the team mediocre...

yo! i think Price will be better than he was last year (hard to be worse) but that deal only kicks in at 31 and pays $10.5 million for 8 years. it's just insane. i would love to see them move the holy trinity (Price/Weber/Pacioretty) and just start over.

You'd be foolish to decline a Weber for Nylander swap dude. A 33 year old defensemen for a 22 year old right handed player who immediately becomes your number 1C for the next 10 years? I'd do that trade any day

My Leafs should make a strong push for Weber, he's the perfect fit for Reilly.

Nylander and a 1st for Weber and McCarron

Let's get this all out in one blog......

But could Tyson Barrie? But could Erik Karlsson? But could Drew Doughty? But could Dougie Hamilton? But could Justin Faulk? But could Jake Gardiner? But could Brent Seabrook?

I feel rather accomplished. I should start a site.

Yeah, I think that would be ideal.

The Pacioretty situation reminds me a bit of Kessel. It isn't that he is a bad player. I am just not so sure he should be your best player, or your leader. He might be great in a situation like Edmonton?

Price was easily the best goalie in the world. I have to think he can return to that form for the first half of that contract and still be good even into his late 30's. Trading him right now would be foolish unless the Habs are desperate to dump the salary.

If he bounces back this year... it might be a good idea to trade him then.

He broke his foot, it's not like chronic back pains or shoulder problems. He has missed very few games before that and he had 16 points in 26 games so he's still effective. He's just not your prototy puck moving guy, more of a solid first pass and hard shot on the PP.

Price was the best goalie in the world, but that sure is paying a premium for a few extra save % points and .2 less goals per game than a guy you can get off the street for way less

.2 goals per game allowed equates to 12 goals scored for over 60 games That's an excessive amount to allocate to goaltending when you could better spend the money on players

My Svechnikov scouting report from what I've seen, he skates slow on the puck, he's got a weak wrister that doesn't always go five-hole but when it does it usually stays in the blue paint. From what I can tell his numbers have been severely deflated due to Soviets playing on bigger ice, longer skate times. However, I think he should fair better than that Ramus Darlin fellow and should go fist overall.

Could there be some kind of combination of trading Price/Weber for Toews/Crawford??

Shea Weber breaks his foot blocking a shot, missing more than 5 games for the first time since 2008.

"Struggles to remain healthy".
