A #40 center is one of the best second line centers in the league. That suggestion shouldn't bother anybody.
- Lunaion

It’s the large discrepancy that’s bothersome & doesn’t make much sense
Imo anyways

Bc here’s the thing...
-his peers, GMs & Coaches, and even analytics experts all for the most part agree that ROR is a really good player
Then there’s ppl on here who act like he’s “replaceable” bc his 5v5 stats with Pouliot & a terrible Okposo for half the year weren’t good
Oh yeah, and he’s a “bad leader”
Whatever that means

So yeah...
i guess i just take issue with the handful on here who undervalue him since literally just about all the “experts” (again, that’s the stat guys, NHL players and the coaches/gms) view him otherwise

Interesting timing based on his contract. All of his huge bonuses are done now.

https://www.capfriendly.com/players/shea-weber

He was paid $12m this year, but will only be owed 48m over the rest of the life of it.

That may be attractive to a team looking for an impact player being paid less than the cap hit.

I still think Shea weber would be a horrible decision, as he is signed for 8 more years.

Does Nashville get hit with the cap recapture when he reires? The last 3 years, he's making $1m per.

No way he plays those

- jcragcrumple

He's owed 6 mil each of the next 4 seasons and 6mil over the remaining 4.

That's 30 mil owed over the last 8 yrs of the deal.

LOL, He scored an OT goal so he is a leader now?
- ImThatGuy

Well, when he didnt score a goal in 4 games, the sky was falling.

Now he scores a big goal and nobody credits him

He's a leader, maybe not the Sabres leader.
This is Jack's team

Why is he wearing an 'A' for team Canada?

Jesus, horrible math, thx. Well that makes it even more attractive to the kind of team I was talking about

Not to bring this up again, but a lot of manually tracked data over the year suggested Ristolainen was part of this problem as well.

Im not saying he or ROR or Reinhart were solely responsible. Im saying for a team to be 31st, its almost all gotta be going wrong, including those guys.

- Sabresfan-365

Or what was going wrong with the Sabres is if you got past Risto and Scandella on D you had not much else and that was what hurt the team along with the weakness at wing when Reinhart ended up being your top winger and not much else. You have to look at what they didn't have more than nitpicking the weaknesses of those whom you have developed an odd disdain for.

Put Risto in Myers spot on Winnipeg
And O’Reilly in line2 in an offensive role with Laine & Ehlers as his wings

Are their numbers better?
How about MUCH better?

The answer to those questions has to be “yes” and “there’s a good chance”

So tell me...
is it that ROR & Risto aren’t good?
Or is it that they’ve just been stuck in a terrible situation?

No one is saying they “move the needle” like Malkin or Doughty...
just that they can be good players who can be important pieces to a good team

If ROR was Winnipeg’s 2C,
and Risto was in their top4,
i think the Jets are still Cup contenders

that's why p/60 is a fan favourite, but stats almost always go up with more ice time. Like when Girgs got first line duties under nolan and was dubbed future captain.

I thnk Armia is a an above average third liner

- Sabresfan-365

Gerbe math:

Above average 3rd liner is pretty much an average 2nd liner?
What's armia's trade value in terms of a pick?

The cap hit is an issue.

$7.875 for the next 8 years is a big number.

$62,857,144 in cap space and only $30 mil in actual salary.

This contract will be bought out in 2 years.

And what do u think of O’Reilly?
Bc even if u rank him 40th,
that’s an above average 2nd liner

Thus,
why i get on u guys about the comparison

Big gap between an above average 2nd liner & an above average 3rd liner...
right?

Hes not though. It has been talked about over and over again.

Also, because he is not good enough to wear the C on a team that is stacked.

Who cares who wears the C for an Event in which the only reason a player is playing in is because his team is no longer in the playoffs.

Sure, of a team that finished dead last. If that's your propagative, more power to ya. All I'm saying is he's not particularly fast, not particularily a leader, not particularly a goal scorer, not particulary a set up man. A master of none, so to speak (But But Faceoffs)
- SDSabre

Hes not particularly slow
Hes a consistent goal scorer, year in year out
Hes a consistent point producer
Plays defense

He is also the alternate captain on team canada?
That I'm sure isnt particularly important?

I think the Sabres miss the intangibles of they move him.
Yes, faceoffs being part of it

Oh for sure. I just wonder if there's a budget team out there that wants to get to the floor - or isn't worried about hitting the cap - that would be interested in him because he's still good, and they're paying him "only" 6 mil in real dollars.

The only catch is, who pays the recapture penalty when he retires in 5 years? I don't know the answer to that

Nashville gets slammed, Partially Montreal, but not much.

Now is actually the perfect time to trade for him because Buffalo wouldn't owe anything if he retired early.

I want nothing to do with the Shea Weber contract
If it comes with pick 3...
then I’d have to consider it

In a f)(*^ tournament nobody F)(* cares about.

You know why He is the A there, because other players decided they did not want to play in the stupid tournament and better players are still playing in the NHL playoffs.

Saute it and place a steak on top of is after searing all sides(season the steak with garlic powder, black pepper, and salt).

10-15 mins in the oven @ 200 (10 for rare, 15 for rare side of mid-rare)

I was under the impression that ror was wearing an 'A' for team canada

So McDavid is irrelevant because hes playing in a loser tournament?
The same tournament guys that are getting eliminated from the playoffs are flying over to join

Why have the event then?
