Rookies these days the "impact players' usually just take off on their own so I'm pretty sure to Sabres trust him to do that since they gave him his own line without trying him at Wing

He was playing on adrenaline; when he plays on skill and the system he will hit a wall at times. You are naive.

Mitts has played 6 games in the NHL that's what. He wasn't a top 3 pick, he was an 8th overall, he is going to take time to develop. Eichel is going into his 4th year and he still can't play both ends of the rink.
- GilPerreault11

He may of been the 8th pick but a redraft would put him at 3rd overall

We all saw his playmaking skills but he had no one to finish his plays just like jack

We need wingers and ROR is our only chance at that

My dream forwardlineup for next season:

Erod/Mittelstadt-Eichel-Bailey
Erod/Mitts-Tavares-Okposo
CJ Smith-ROR-Reinhart
Baptiste-Asplund-Pominville

That’s a playoff caliber forward lineup.

PP1: Reinhart and ROR net front presences. Eichel on his off wing at the left point. Dahlin at the top of the umbrella. Tavares on the right wall.

PP2: Mittelstadt on Left point, Risto at the top, Okposo right wall. Pominville and erod net front.

Probably because I don't agree with any of that nor do I place any serious value in ability.

Aren’t u an “Analytics” guy?
I’ll pose u the same question that Sbroads had no answer for...

Why does the analytics community hold O’Reilly in such high regard?
What stats are they using that rank him around the 25th best Center,
that u guys are obviously leaving out?

I'm just saying I was shocked as anyone to see that the Sabres didn't put him at wing that means they really trust him to take over the center line duties imo

Mark Pysyk and Cody Franson are also Analytics darlings.

be careful with analytics.

The stat they use is a combination of game score, and WAR/"K" rating (which by the way, was rejected by a sports analytics journal.

Wins above replacement is still very much in it's infancy and has a lot of flaws in how it weights certain attributes. It's how Ristolainen gets ranked ahead of Charlie Mcavoy and how ROR gets ranked ahead of Tavares or Barzal.

If they were both that good, we'd be close to a playoff spot.

All anti-analytics people scream how no single metric can give you the full picture (Which is in fact correct) but as soon as a single metric confirms their opinion they're all over it.

8 wingers for a starting roster.

Okposo
Sam
Girgs
Wilson
Pommer
Erod - I learned his natural position is LW

Ror - could switch to wing

Vanek?
Neal?
Bailey
Babs
Cj smith

We need 2 good wingers. Hopefully we sign a free agent and someone steps up thru our system.

Goalie is ullmark and his 5 nhl games
Lehner and Chad are tankers

- Boss34

I was discussing 3 years from now, where the entire group is full of uncertainty and no one comfortably projects to be on the team.

Next year, a few guys have locks on spots, but it's an underwhelming group. As a whole, the wingers project among the worst in the league.

Goaltending needs some moves, no question there. I don't think anyone would dare argue otherwise.

That’s not exactly true

Certain analytical stats show Franson isn’t as bad as we all thought,
but it’s not like anyone is saying he’s a “top4” defenseman overall

Pysyk was ranked as the 81st best RH defenseman this season by CorsicaHockey
That puts him in the bottom half of the 3rd pair guys

U run into problems with Analytics when u take one stat, say 5v5 scoring, and let that dominate your evaluation while u give little weight to the other stats
Or pts/60, etc etc etc
The “numbers” obviously will work out better when you consider ALL stats,
like the Analytics EXPERTS obviously do

That’s an utter fallacy
McDavid + Draisaitl were no where close to a playoff spot either

that's an utterly bad comparison. If a team has Eichel, >McAvoy, >Barzal/Tavares on their team, they're closer to a playoff spot than last place

It’s not JUST Corsica though...
In Sbroads own words,
“Me & 365 have repeatedly said that the analytics community holds ROR in high regard”

I’m being sincere here,
Bc that’s surprising to me considering u guys both use Analytics so much

Obviously theses Experts see the same 5v5 stats as you guys do,
but there’s other stats that boost O’Reilly into the 20s,
whereas u guys have him ranked where?
In the 40s?
That’s a really big discrepancy

There's absolutely no way that trade is even close.

Moulson is a lot better than people give him credit for and that's too much to give up for an old Shea weber
