We got McCabe

I'd rather have byron and 2 seconds than mccabe and fasching

Okposo is a pretty decent player. Nolan had what, 4 points this year?

Eichel definitely made Girgensons less sucky, but girgs weighed Eichel down - you can check their respective dobber charts for that info.

Eichel is also playing 14 mins a night with Girgs (which is absurd, of course).

I'm just saying, don't write the kid off. He spent his entire year next to guys who have just washed out off the NHL. He had to pass Reinhart, Okposo and Pominville, which Housley was obviously not going to allow.

Eichel makes everyone less sucky. Even though putting literal poop on his wings makes him worse. The kid needs a sniper to truly be elite. (In the scoring race)

For those that don't want ROR, Risto or Reinhart moved, im genuinely curious to know what your ideal off season looks like.

I just have one condition, the answers can't be "sign tavares and or carlson" because please, that's not happening.

All 3 or 1 or 2 of them? Because the argument based on that stipulation can wildly change.

you keep saying that as if everyone's strictly opposed to change...there's been plenty of change including a tanked for core pieces...the team is made up of players from three regimes over four years and those that have been here have had four different coaches...

last year 10 new players or so started the season and the Amerks was nearly completely revamped...

change is good but proper change is even better, as you've alluded to on numerous occasions in regards to murray

- Michael Pachla

I don't think we are allowed to use the new faces, coach, and GM argument anymore.

I used to use it almost daily but then Vegas started playing the way they are.

I think change is good as long as its done well. If vegas has shown us anything its that even a lack of top end talent can be compensated for with effort and team composition. Two things we lack here if buffalo

under that case

try to shed salary
bogo, okposo, beaulieu

maybe pommer

no long term deals

bring the kids up to fill the wing slots

move on from girgens or larsson
move on from lehner

maybe grab 1 or 2 vets up front on a 1 year deal

and sign a bernier type guy to platoon with ullmark

I don't want to handcuff this team long term with more bogo deals right now

carlson is the only guy I would consider paying big time for this offseason

I think the problem you're running into is that people don't know the market nor do they know who's available...All three are considered top-half players yet the way they're all bagged on here makes them out as bottom-half players...and like somebody said expectations are low on the return...

at the end of the day, if any are traded for an upgrade at the position, I don't think most will mind

Significant change can't come to this team without either trading at least 1 of the 3, or a bunch of future 1sts.

I would never say Risto is untouchable.. but I can't see how he can't be a part of the solution. Nice salary hit for what he brings.. 2nd pairing quality, could get better with better line mate and personal development, solid offense. I trade ROR before Reinhart before Risto. But of course, there can always be that deal that comes across that makes you better short and long term or really, really better long term that allows me to say, go ahead and trade Risto then. But he's last of the 3, for me.

the nhl was way different in 2012 and Byron was considered too small to have an impact...

times have changed but it doesn't change that fact

Yea, that's true of any player on any team, it's kind of a lazy answer/explanation. They're viewed as core players by some, not by me. The return doesn't have to directly bring back a better player, just good value.

IMO, finding a suitor for Bogosian isn't change. Finding a 4th line center to replace Larsson isn't change.

Creating an identity for this team IS change. Molding this team to play a style that the GM and coach wants IS change. And that means moving out NHL players that play big minutes, but don't play that style.

Do people see how these current playoff teams play? Nothing close to the way the Sabres have attempted to play for years
