23 forwards played more than him at EV, and all of them around and above him scored more than he did at EV.

He scored like Derek Stepan did this year. Middle of the road 2C.

He's a fine player, but didn't do anything special this year besides break a who cares record

- sbroads24

The last time a player broke that record 12 years ago, their team won the Stanley cup. So, sure, everyone is "who cares" about faceoffs now, but wait til our team can't win many

Good read Pach. Hard to argue with your logic. For all the reasons you mentioned in your piece, I think ROR is the major piece of the core who won't be a Sabre in October.

Can the Sabres win with ROR as 2nd line center. I would say yes.
Can the Sabres trade him and not miss a beat, I would say yes.

He should be traded for a 1st round pick this year. add in the 2nd rd pick.

Offer to Montreal, Ottawa, Arizona.

Take a cap dump back from each team if needed.

Who gives a (frank)? GMs are too scared to offer sheet someone.

Means we can offer sheet Athanasiou and could only cost us a 3rd or 2nd

Even with total ice time, look at the point totals around him.

He's in no ones league around him.

ROR is a good hockey player, He does things nobody else on the team does or can do. Faceoff wins and takeaways are very important to team success, so it's confusing how the team didn't have more success than they did. The question is, Is he worth the amount of money he is being paid for what he brings to the table. He said when he first got here that he was finally going to get a chance to be a team leader, I recall he used to stay late after practice to work on things with whoever wanted to work on stuff. That is the sign of a leader.
after season 2 he stated that he needed to be more vocal in the room, now he has lost his passion for the game. I would hope he would be willing to fill any spot in the lineup that helps the team reach their goals, But his past history shows the opposite to be true, so I would think that if GMJB gets a fair offer he just might consider taking it.

I will say this. Look at the point differentials of all those players with > 1,600 minutes.

Again, I do not think ROR is bad, I also think the Sabres should explore trading him.

True. I think that's because he's played too much. Get some capable bottom 6 under him to takeaway some minutes, and get him some better wingers, and he'll be better.

Dustin Brow 61 points, 80 less minutes.

It's a good comparable.

but would his point totals not go down then?
Instead of 61 points, he now has 50 because of reduced ice time.

again, ROR good player, I think he should be traded.

This is false.

Certain faceoffs are important. Maybe 2-3 a game. As a whole, they are overrated.

yes, and he'd be the same player, but his perception would take a dive.
