So getting an declining Weber for a stud D wasnt enough, now they want a useless overpriced two way center that lost his offence? either Ek is starved for clicks or Montreal is dumber than i thought. - Leniwm1
Why can’t it be both?

I’m not saying it won’t happen but I like Bobby Orr’s chances of a comeback better |

Absolutely
Not saying he's the worst player in the world, but he isn't even close to full value on that cap hit, and personally I wouldn't take it on even if Chicago picked up half |

He is a good player but a good player worth half of what he makes for 4 or 5 years.
10.5 with that term is terrible. Chicago should blow it up now and salvage what they can so they can rebuild quicker dont do what the canucks did and grind all there vets value into the ground. |

His points may not be much to look at but, like it or not, he was part of that first wave of Soviet's to bolt from the USSR and come to North America to play pro hockey.
His career was culturally-significant and that does count for something. It doesn't hurt that his numbers were "good" and he was a contributor on multiple Stanley Cup winning teams. - eichiefs9
The 1st was Alexander Mogilny. |

Larionov, Fetisov, and Mogilny all played in the 89/90 season. There were others too, if I recall. There was no "first" single Russian player. |

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes the Hawks are going to trade their heart and soul player who is already a lock for the hall of fame. Don't get me wrong, Hawks need to rebuild, but this simply won't happen and you can put an E5 beside that - rickyd39
I know he has 3 cups, but Toews a "lock" for Hall of Fame?
Do his individual stats even come close? |

Of course. We're talking post Lidstrom Pierre McGuire stalking stats right? Cause Toews needed a restraining order at one point. |

No. He produces at the level of a "good" 1st line center. Those Chicago teams that won were stacked and very well-constructed teams. This is not to take away from the impact Toews had outside of scoring, but he's IMO in the same realm as guys like Stepan. I'm not tying to knock Stepan or Toews with that comment, but just trying to show the mold of player I'm talking about.
I don't know that Toews is a lock, but I think he'll definitely be considered. |

Yes. Thats always the better answer but the habs will never tank. The franchise wont accept losing .so If there going after a smart defensive center and package galchenyuck and the 3rd overall, Oreilly is 3 years younger, scores more and is #1 on faceoffs and makes 4M less |

Are you suggesting O'Reilly is worth the 3rd overall and Galchenyuk? Cause I wouldn't trade either for him straight up |

Isnt this whole board suggesting the 3rd overall and galch for Toews? Im just suggesting if they were to give those pieces up anyway for Toews, they are better off doing it for Oreilly |

You don't have to be that smart to figure out both are really dumb ideas
Habs will offer Byron, Mccarron and the 35th pick for O'Reilly... |

Whats with all the hate on Oreilly? He is in his prime at 27, an established 60 point guy, the best in the league on faceoffs, plays in all situations and probably is at least in the conversation for the best two way center. Hes going to get a better return than spare parts and a 2nd
