Yea see, you're missing the point... Habs don't want Toews - obie
No. You don’t want Toews. No one know for sure what the Habs want. No one knows for sure what the Hawks want. Or what either is willing to at least talk about (not necessarily actually) deal. Businesses - and hockey truly is a business - talk about things all the time. Off the wall things that don’t go anywhere and things that make sense. And sometimes off the wall things that don’t make sense until a year later. Talk (and other things) happen.
BTw what did you say about the Subban trade before it actually went down? What odds did you give that?
Agree with whoever said it up thread - this off season is going to be bananas. And hopefully fun! |

Agree! But all of the, what if‘s? Then the speculation runs rampant. I still shake my head over the original trade with Atlanta for Dustin Byfuglien,To a minor degree it reminds me of the Phil Esposito trade when we were kids. My point being in one of my original post. If that were to happen Stan Bowman better get a haul back because his trade record so far is about the Mendoza line. |

You want a haul back because of sentimental attachments to an era you associate with winning, a modern day dynasty no less and I get that... But the reality of it is, you're trading away an aging C on a horrible contract who put up numbers that would of had him battling Tomas Plekanec for top line duties in Montreal when he was in his prime, good but not great, all the while playing along side elite talent his entire career! Toews will be a good 3rd line C with a 10 million dollar cap hit for some of that deal, Scott Gomez anyone? Asking for Galchenyuk, Drouin and the 3rd overall pick is insane! That's 3 of the last 7 3rd overall picks for a guy that might get 20 goals playing in this system, with those linemates! |

Its Toews. He has already been in rumours to be moved. He would be a good fit in MTL but not sure who this untouchable player is. I doubt it is Price. Deal doesnt make sense to me since MTL would be creating a hole on their team to fill another hole. I think the untouchable player may come in the form of a very promising prospect or young player.
I keep posting this but it seems no one is listening. A rumour is not a fact or a sure thing.
By definition a rumour is a currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth..
This is 100% what we get from this site. Regardless of whether Eklund makes up his own rumours, he is still working within the definition of a rumour. |

Shaping up to be an interesting off season indeed... The FA crop next year is unbelievable as well, although some may resign with their current teams and never actually make it to market...
And yes, Edmonton will trade that pick and most likely get robbed! - obie
Haha. Chipaet. I think LL will move one of his NYI 1sts for D help as well. |

I knew this sh-t would start the minute EK put this crap out. Toews.......um, Rocky says he goes no where unless HE asks for it.
Bowman isn't stupid, he's not taking garbage back for Toews ,IF this is even remotely true, aahhh, start with Galchenyuk, DROUIN, AND, this years #3 for starters.nothing less, no Andrew Shaw or any of the Canadiens other garbage, EK, please stop!......now! - wonthecup10
Toews contract is pretty much an albatross now son. Great player. Great career. Not fetching you a ransom anymore. Those must be some thick homer goggles you're wearing. |

You cant say that. What if Chicago retains some of the cap. That would definitely. Increase his value. Toews is still the Center he when he won the cups. He is a 50-60 point player but he is a fantastic leader and fantastic 2 way player. At 30 years old he has about the same lifespan left as Crosby does in the NHL minus the risk of a career ending concussion. Montreal needs to win now. Patches, Weber and Price are not getting any younger. They either need to go all in now or fold completely and rebuild from scratch. |

The whole point of a rumour is that they dont. Look up the definition. A rumour is not a prediction. |

Only two Habs would be considered untouchable. Gallagher and Mete. I don't see a center in the central that would merit either. MAYBE Thomas from St Louis but there would have to be other pieces involved. Loooongshot |

You, as a Habs fan said that Toews is overrated, that's why i am responding to YOUR statement and my opinion is that Price is way overrated. At least Toews was able to lead his team to 3 Stanley Cup Championships, that's what superstars do.
If Price was a superstar he would have taken the Habs to the finals at least once, like great goalies have done in the past even when the rest of the team wasn't that good. - bluestar
He actually almost did that once until he got ran over by Kreider. Price did win MVP, Vezina and ted Lindsay award in the same year. He had a bad year this year but I’m sure he’s gonna bounce back. Not like the D-Core helped him this year as well

I would consider trading Mete for a good center myself. Need to give to get. |
