No, they can enjoy defensemen Hell for the next 10 years. Or pay too much for Karlsson. Either one works for me |

I don’t think they’re in defensemen hell, at all.
They have a future top 4 of
Reilly, Gardiner, Dermott, Liljegren.
It’s a solid group. |

He's 35 and his cap hit is massive
Pass rather go for their backup |

Reilly and Gardiner had the worst Corsi of any Leafs d-men in the playoffs. Reilly is a solid #2. Gardiner is a sold #4. Dermott will be a #3 or #4 but unless you’re moving Gardiner down a pair he might be trade bait. They have nothing on the right side of their defense. Zaitsev is a 3rd pairing d-man making 4.5 for the next 6 years (leafs Bogosian). |

Two 50 point D men are “Yikes”?
What does that make Ristolainen? |

Reilly is a marginal first pair guy, but Gardiner is a poop show in his own zone.
Risto is a second pair guy. The leafs look very unsteady on the top pair. They definitely have more balanced skill through the d corps than the Sabres, but Reilly and Gardiner are not an answer |

That Boston series opened my eyes. They're either going to try to outscore their problems, or they might have to make a tough decision about Nylander to bring in some d help. Or backup the proverbial truck to Karlsson. |

It was the most difficult decision of my career but Connolly is to valuable to upper management to put him back on the ice. |

They'd have to be tempted. They do need a center. They have a surplus of wingers and defensemen.
ROR, Larsson, Bailey, hell I'd even throw in a few picks after the 1st round, and Lehner's rights.

They don't need any D and I'm not fond of getting rid of McCabe. Other than that, I'd throw in more still. |

They also have no money, ROR's contract structure is a no go.
Edit: I don't mean cap by the way, I mean the owner is literally too cheap for this deal |
