Maybe if Geno gets moved...
otherwise this is definitely NHL19-esque speculation. |

I forgot that there was salary retention, but why would you ever move Brassard to make room for Tavares? Really? - Rinosaur
Much worse players that cost 3 mil or more to move instead of him. |

Did you just see the last 10 seconds of that period? Hahaha wow... What a turn of events. That was probably the best looking non goal I've ever seen... And then maybe the quickest PP goal I've ever seen.. - MattStrat
Certainly a kick in the balls |

Most non-Penguin fans hate the Pens as it is, so I can only imagine how hate they'd be if Tavares became their 3C. |

I’ve never seen so many passed up shots from the slot as this years playoffs. Seems like every team is looking for that one last pass. |

I didn't get to watch most of the game, but every time I caught a few minutes it looked like Tampa was playing like the Penguins in game 6. They were getting beaten to every puck by Wash and refusing to get the puck on net. |

2 things I take from caps bolts game 1. Despite stats fans will ill of Trotz he is still a great defensive coach. 2. Kunitz stands up to Wilson within two periods. |

I really wish the Pens would have kept Kunitz for 4th line duty over paying Reaves. |

What I am hoping for this offseason is:
1- Trade Hagelin, Sheary for draft picks... Clears up 7 million in cap space.
2- Re-sign Sheahan to 2 year 2.5 per, Rust 3 years 3 million per, Oleksiak 2 years 1.5 per.
3- Sign JVR 6 years 6 million per
4- Trade Hunwick and a 3rd to dump his contract without taking any of his contract back. (wishful thinking)
5- Trade for Alex Petrovic 6th Dman
Guentzel - Crosby - Sprong
JVR - Malkin - Hornqvist
Rust - Brassard - Kessel
??? - Sheahan - ZAR
Dumoiln - Letang
Maatta - Schultz
Oleksiak - Petrovic
Ruhwedel
Murray
Jarry - pens4life-66
I like JVR alot and before we signed Hornqvist he'd have been a top target of mine. Here's why I wouldn't do this or something similar. By similar I mean leverage as much cap space as possible to sign another star.
There's almost no salary coming off this group anytime soon and you have to plan for raises for Jake and Murray. Hags works as a good buffer to save space for that Guentzel raise while being a useful player which is why despite him being a little overpaid I'd prefer to keep him. (That and he works great with Malkin).
Sheary and Hunwick I'm fine with converting into something else. I don't feel they absolutely need a wing, so I'm aiming for a defenseman. Murray's raise won't be as big as Jake's since he has a mid-range salary already so they hopefully won't need too much more at that point. |

Ryan Wilson: John Tavares... to the Penguins... - Ryan_Wilson
I believe Tavares' best move would be to sign a one-year deal with the Maple Leafs for big money and take a run at a title and then sign the long term deal after the year.
Quite honestly one of the dumbest things I've ever read on this site. |

Why's that? Hossa actually did do that, didn't work out the way it was planned but he did do it. |

I wish they could have kept Kunitz over Conner Sheary, played him with Reaves and actually gave them minutes. This team has about seven Conner Shearys. |

He did. He got an insurance policy against his future earnings. Just in case he had a career ending injury.
I think JT is going Maple Leafs or Rangers. I would have guaranteed Rangers until they decided to rebuild. I don't think he'll go cup chasing and sign a one year contract with Nashville or another close team. |

Actually the stats show that the Caps had a very good defensive game, and limited the Lightning's scoring chances. |

In a video game world, I'd trade Brassard and Hunwick to the Isles for the rights to Tavares (assuming a deal has previously been worked out).
Dump Sheary's contract to a team willing to send back a pick/prospect package and you're good, then sign Rust and it all washes.
Give Sheahan a bump to $3M which would add less than $1M to the cap.
Trade Hagelin to FLA for Petrovic(stealing someone else's idea) and you'll save about $2M at the end. If we can throw in Simon and get Sceviour back that would be awesome.
I'm just bored...
EDIT: Ohhh I forgot. Of course the Pens go out and sign E. Kane... duh
Jake-Sid-Horn
Kane-Geno-Sprong
Rust-Tavares-Kessel
ZAR-Sheahan-Sceviour
It's hard to be realistic in an unrealistic scenario |
