sometimes it's about having a fit and building chemistry moreso than building an all-star-type line

you can do the back reading if you want...it happened...

but they didn't tar and feather him

dreger said on instigators that he got the impression botts and ror talked and he said he thinks it's "highly unlikely" ror will be traded...unless there's a package on the table that makes sense to buffalo
- Michael Pachla

that leaves skunk or risto as possible 'core players' to be moved...and tbh, I can't see him moving on from either of those two this year either
- Michael Pachla

Someone is moving. I highly doubt JB is going to do a 180 on how angry and insistent he was on making big changes at the year end presser.

He was disgusted with this team this year.

Trading Nylander who wasn't apart of it, or Girgensons and Larsson don't cut it

Wilson on the 2nd line? depending who the wingers are I think we're going to be back in the top 10 of the draft

Oh well

- gerbe75pts

Im projecting one of them to be a decent scoring winger for Eichel and Dahlin+guhle/pilut to take steps forward. That's probably enough to get them out of the bottom 10.

a bottom-10 finish/top-10 pick would be a sign of progress for a last place team

Why wouldn't he? I think he just said what we wanted to hear.

emotions ran high this year and spilled over into the after the end-of-season sessions...

I can't remember, but I don't think he said anything was definitive in that regard either

Lehner, Okposo and Bogo could all be considered core pieces based either on salary, or assets required to acquire. Botts also called out players with playoff experience. He could sell one of those as a core move

It would, agreed but I was hoping to be in the rage of 12 or so

But right now how the roster stands top five in the draft imo

But I know the roster isn't completed

this was the question I posed to you, gerbs:

how many times this year did jack's play look like he lost his passion?

So ROR or Kyle then

But we have to keep Kyle if we're trying to go after John Tavares

I think the first two will be his scapegoats. Probably try and move Okposo for a different bad contract thats either a better fit or perhaps shorter term.

I said zero he was basically the whole team this year
If anything he should be the one more tired than Ryan O'Reilly

"B" to Botts so far. He did more good stuff than bad stuff this year. The guy inherited a bag of s_it from Murray. Now, if he can somehow rid the Sabres of some anchor contracts, then he could slide into the A range.

If this is the "big move" than he doesn't deserve to be a GM in the NHL.

It's just the truth.

We were 31st. 31st. In Eichel's 3rd season.

If he doesn't make big changes it's an epic failure

I will say 50% we aren't scared to pull up the money truck

We have been in the market for top UFA every year

i'd hazard to guess every player on the team "lost their passion" at one point or another during the season...it happens...

ror happened to be the only one to voice that

"When you finish where we were, you have to look at everything," he said. "That means looking at even changing up some of our core players. From a free agent standpoint, we'll be involved in free agency. But I'm a believer that you just can't build a team just through free agency. It has to come from within our organization."

Lehner too I guess. I think the lottery win changes things, it gave him a core player for free.

I think it would be a mistake not moving ROR this summer, but I wouldn't go that far

I think this is our lineup next year. Obviously the spots are interchangeable and the log jam at LHD will eventually force Botts to move someone but:

New guy-Eichel-Okposo

Wilson-ROR-Reinhart

Low risk guy-Mittelstadt-EROD

FA signing-Larsson-Pominville

Scandella-Ristolainen

McCabe-Bogosian

Dahlin-Nelson

Depth guy

Guhle-Pilut on stand by when a lefty is moved

New Guy
Ullmark

- Sabresfan-365

I'm left wondering where the "big changes" are coming from.
