Fine. You want him to post a blog and say they shouldn’t trade him unless they rape another team? Thanks captain obvious.

Fact 1: The Flames rarely played like a team when things got tough. Would anyone deny that the atmosphere must have been "poisoned" somehow?
Fact 2: The Flames traded for DH's brother (gave up a 7th round conditional) when it was obvious they had minimal use for him as a player.
Fact 2a: Most people were shocked that Boston let him go.
Fact 3: DH and his brother were BFFs until his brother was waived and claimed by Arizona. Is he still a happy camper in spite of this?
Fact 4: DH seems a bit flakey (eg photobombing) which could be a good thing - but it might also be a sign of underlying immaturity which would not be good when the pressure's on.
Fact 5: DH didn't get a lot of trust in tough situations like PK and overtime.
Fact 6: If Flames have depth anywhere it's on defense.
Fact 7: There are some good players in this year's draft and imo both the Montreal and Carolina picks (at least) could be had for the right price. Even if their first priorities lie elsewhere, a deal is doable when a player like DHs in the conversation.
Fact 8: Stats may describe a team but stats don't make a team.

They need to get rid of Gio now before he renders nothing in return. His heart is gone, need a new leader and get some new blood on the back end. That said, id be trying for a top 4-6 pick for Gio and maybe a later pick or prospect. Id really like to have the chuck brothers in Calgary for the next 10-15 years.

lol Marner, Gardiner and a 1st really? Toronto wouldn’t trade Marner 1 for 1 for Hamilton. Nylander maybe though.

Too bad Dougie would be an amazing partner for Rielly.

- Blazed

No argument from me on what you said, but basically if you want him, it would have to be a WTF massive overpay. Our window is just opening & it would be pure insanity to trade a 24 year old top pairing RHD with 3 more years of an amazing contract left to what a consensus "fair trade". Top pairing 40+ point big RHD are very very hard to find. I would never trade Hamilton straight up for Nylander either. I thought you guys just wanted to run Gardiner out of town for his own protection? Thought that was doing you guys a favour.

How many top 10 picks in the NHL draft have moved in trades between now and the draft over the last 15 years? .... Not many the only one I can remember is the Cory Schneider deal that that was for a #10 pick.

So what you are saying is we are due for one

And there was one last year as a FYI

And in 14 and 13 and 12 and 11, so essentially it happens quite a bit.

That last graphic is insane! Great post Todd!

If flames were a playoff team they'd have nominated Dougie. No recognition for the outsiders.

You already posted this blog.

Everyone knows he's a good offensive defenseman. That's why his name comes up in the media. Since you write for a website that deals with rumours, you should know that the media grasps for anything to write about and it usually amounts to nothing.

I don't really get your point of saying all the other RHD are untouchable. A lot of the names on your list have been traded before and the best one on the list is supposedly getting traded this year.

FFS anyone know a girl we can set this guy up with? Why're you so salty all the time. It was a good post.

Already lost the validity of your point there. That guy works harder than any flame on the ice. He's still our best defender captain and stabilizes the blue line.

As said many times, creating a hole in your defence to makeup for the offence is a lateral move
