Because Tatum wasn't viewed as the #1 pick on most boards if I remember correctly. What bothers me the most is I don't even think the 76ers brought Tatum in for an interview or workout. I still won't write Fultz off but man Tatum was displaying some killer instinct against us.
- arichardson22

Ainge fleeced Colangelo in that deal. Boston was in no way taking Fultz at number 1. Ainge got the Sixers to trade up for a player they weren't taking, got the Lakers 1st rounder and still got the player they wanted.

Also while the Sixers need to go and find pieces for next year, the Celtics already have all star pieces coming back next year.

Sixers could have a solid future but they need help and will most likely need to go through Boston.

In a way it's interesting to see how two teams built teams. One tanked for 5 years to try and acquire top end talent and another tanked one season and made smart moves to build their team.

I think this is correct. I'm guessing Lyon will be given every opportunity to push Neuvirth out of a job.
- johndewar

If they get to camp with Neuvirth still a Flyer, the chances of Lyon making the team are not strong.

Good points, but I still think the combo of Simmons/Embiid will just be devastating as they mature. Fultz is going to be a very good player too, I'm looking foward to seeing what he can do after a full summer of training and good health. If by some miracle they do add Lebron as a free agent, this team is going to be downright scary next season.
- BiggE

Simmons desperately needs to develop a jump shot and a mid range game if he is going to take the next step. As far as Embiid, he's a physical horse who needs to refine his foot work. I'm not crazy about many of the coaches offensive sets. I've never seen a dominant 7 foot monster spend so much time out at the 3 point line. Get him down on the blocks and leave him there.

WOW!!! What a truly incredible performance by Lyon. Whether he becomes a full-time NHLer or not, that game should be in his mind and heart for the rest of his life. Amazing.

Bill, is Sam Morin made of glass? That possibility really hurts the future of the Flyers.

Also miss Tom Petty. 2017 was a tough year for musicians.

For the guitar players and fans out there, if you get the chance to see Marcus King don’t miss it.
He’s like a young Duane Allman. 22 years old with amazing chops.

I’ve seen him play a few times this year and it was jaw droppping. Kid just has it. His voice just ok but his guitar playing is real.

While I feel bad for Morin because of yet another injury. His injury history has mainly been limited to this year. I think once he heals over the summer, he'll be just fine.

Correct. Morin has just had an incredibly bad string of luck starting just this year.

As Bill noted earlier, the only significant injury Morin sustained before this year was a broken jaw back in juniors.

Honest question for guitar players:

What would you rather listen to: a guy who is incredibly talented at playing the guitar but is only mediocre at songwriting, or a guy who is only mediocre at playing the guitar but is an incredibly talented songwriter?

As a non musician, I'll take the songwriting ability over the guitarist everyday. And that is why, to me, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix are the best 2 guitarists of all time: they had fantastic playing ability and song writing ability.

Imagine being a -450 series favorite against a team missing their top two players and getting embarrassed in 5 games. Brutal. Process of elimination.

At least the confetti didn't go to waste.

Clapton wrote some very good songs but a lot of his best songs were written by other people or he had a lot of collaborators.

I would go with songwriting every time.
The whole story is what makes a song good to me vs just a solo or riff.

Great question.
I lean towards the songwriter but I never mind hearing a real talent at guitar play a cover of a fabulous song.

Really it’s all about the song for me.

Exactly.

I think, aside from Dream Theater, Dragonforce is probably the best example. Sure, Herman Li can do some ungodly guitar tricks and play as fast as anyone, but 95% of their material just sounds like disorganized posturing, and the band's other members aren't really that good. Fun to listen to in spurts, but it gets really old really fast.
