If Ryan O’Reilly needs to be motivated again he needs to get the (frank) out locker room I’m done

Don't you think the most competitive guys are the guys that take losing the hardest?

The more passion for winning, the more heartbreak ror took on for losing.

It is crazy how the perception of ROR has changed so quickly. Future captain, captain practices,a true leader, just what we need. To trade him, he has no passion, not a leader etc.

It's coming for Eichel within the next 2 years. Book it. There's was a hint of it last fall, but half of this board will turn on him within 24 months

I agree. I feel like he spoke from the heart in the end of the season interview.

If they move him, it better be for some good young talent.

Wasn't he everyone's top 3 sabre. A year ago

great, he spoke from the heart. But here's what he did. He told his employer(s) and the people that depend on him that he's not passionate about his job. So there's that.

Yes, at times he lost the passion for his job.

I think we have all been there?

Losing sucks. Ror hates to lose. I don't see any obvious signs of his lack of passion on the ice.

Sam on the other hand looks passionless . Soft for sure

O'Reilly is a good player.

He just represents what's been wrong with this organization for years, mediocre to slightly above average production for top dollars.

Honest question, how many times over the 3 years he's been here, has O'Reilly gone 10-20 game stretches with 0 or 1 goal ? I'd wager 3-4 times.

I see that side of the argument too.

61 points is exactly what we expected, isn't it?
On a terrible team that was assembled to fail.

Ror doesn't miss games, ever. That speaks more to his passion then a few words.

The face off record is a pretty big intangible in my eyes.
Moving forward anyways.

There are so many other guys that were worse then him. Pretty much the whole team, but eichel.

He’ll be fine, but you are right, at $10m per the expectations damn well should change.
IMO, Jack needs to
-stay healthy ... kinda flukie injuries last 2 years
-produce at PPG+ clip ... he is on the cusp of it, and had flashes when he was, he should exceed it this year
-learn how to lead ... taking baby steps, there are signs he is maturing but he needs to get there faster starting now

And who hasn't fallen in that category?

Sam took the first half season off to recover
Larson had 1 goal
Girgs goes without for months
Kane sucked a bunch of balls thru out his Sabres career
Okposo took the first 10 games off for a reason
Erod was inconsistent
The whole defense minus risto had an off year

We have been terrible, its expected to have a bit of a roller coaster statically

He's missed 22 since he's been here. Which isn't bad.

I agree with this, which is why trading him now while he has value makes sense.

If CM wasn't in the picture, this would be different. But Housley and Botterill are staunch on playing him at center (CM) and you don't pay 7.5 mil on your cap for your about to be 3rd line center when this team is competing for a cup.

ROR can bring back valuable assets, and cap space you can use to fill out this roster.
