Botts needs to back up the brinks truck for Tavares. The time to spend money is now. Mitts and Dahlin on rookie deals. Bogo, Scandella, Moulson, will all be off the books by 2020. I think we might have a horse in the race for getting him, and if our 1/10 odds of us getting him ever turn out, it makes moving ROR that much easier.

No he doesn't, Garth.

I doubt at this point in his career he's a "fan" of anywhere. It's about the business and wins. Same deal as Stamkos, most likely won't have the most attractive offer.

Not that I wouldn't want him here, but I hope the off season plans don't revolve around him the same way it was with Stamkos, ultimately leading to the okposo signing.

Just because guys play at the highest level in pro sports doesn't mean they do not still have a favorite team still from growing up.

Didn't Drury leave to the rangers and say he always wanted to play there since being a kid?

We got a meeting with Stamkos last off-season. Yea this year didn’t go exactly as planned for us but we have the two best prospects in the entire NHL, if not two of the top 3 (Pettersson edging out Mittelstadt). Sooner or later players are going to want to come play here. Eichel, Dahlin, Mittelstadt can vault us into the playoffs this year alone just like how the Leafs went from worst to wildcard.

You said Dahlin wasn’t coming here either... How do we know he didn’t grow up a Sabres fan ? Not everyone in Southern Ontario is a Leafs fan, myself included. I vaguely remember the 2005-2008 years although I know those were the seasons that drew me to the team. My first Sabres jersey was a Afinoganov laminated one with the slug. Tavares is 4 years older then I, had an Uncle playing professional sports here, could easily have been immericed into Buffalo professional sports. I wouldn’t say him not coming here is impossible. Until he signs on the dotted line somewhere I’ll ponder the possibility.
- Pegullaville

I said we weren't winning the lottery, just like others did due to us getting screwed in the past, so that';s not on me. Why would Tavares come here ?no reason. We aren't close to winning and haven't finished rebuilding.

The fact is you think it's right is what he means by being brainwashed

There are multiple ways to solve problems.

Learning how to think for yourself is one of the many areas schools in this country are failing students.

Learn to think for yourself and you will find that out.

That also goes for the other way of solving math problems.

I will say this, how the common core is taught is what is wrong, not the common core itself.

- Stripes77

This. Saying it is only correct if it is done one way is the issue. If you show your work and explain how you got there should be what matters.

Your the one that said I couldn’t do 7th grade math ..

That’s how it started math is different now so maybe back in your day you could destroy people

Just saying

- gerbe75pts

Math is the same, and will remain the same until there is some sort of revelation in physics.

The common core is a slap in the face to math. The lessons they teach are nothing more than convoluted processes to try and describe simple concepts.

i don't dispute that, but they were also the most attractive offer for him as well. Even as a fan, I doubt he'd sign there if the rangers offer fell well short of the next two or three best teams.

if you're counting dahlin, wouldn't svech be up there? Zadina? Hughes? I hear that Hischier kid had a pretty good year?

Yes, sooner or later we'll be a player in free agency. It won't be the summer after we finished last.

Colorado, New Jersey, Toronto are already back in the playoffs after being at the bottom. Sabres can possibly be there even without Tavares. JT would guarantee us at least a wildcard spot and anything can happen once you get a ticket to the dance.

Why would he go from the frying pan to the fire? we aren't close to a playoff team now but maybe soon we will. Can't pay him 10 mill along with Eichel and trying to trade ROR along with a bunch of trash to get him doesn't work. We don't need another big contract as of now.

I think bringing in JT would do quite a bit to help our wingers. Are there many other centers that make their wingers look so good as JT does? We have traded for two of them and have seen first hand what JT can do for his wingers.

I have absolutely no doubt JT will be playing somewhere other than Buffalo, but if he makes that decision we would have our Crosby/Malkin like top 2

We need a winger for Eichel not another center. I doubt Eichel is going to play on the 2nd line.

Isles don’t have an Eichel. Sabres possibly have a Barzal (Mittelstadt).
