This is late '90s, early 2000s, but we were never praised for being losers. We were praised for effort, but winning and losing in sports at the age of 11, 12, 13 is immaterial. Learning to be a gracious winner and loser, and learning to be a teammate is what it should be about.

It is ok to lose in sports. Being a hardass and yelling at kids for losing is a great way to burn them out. Sports should be fun

Spot on, you sound like a guy who has the right frame of mind to coach in youth.

I coached my son's soccer team for 12 years. Early on, participation awards were fine, and the focus was on effort, not results. Building fundamental skills.
As they get older, competing for the win and team play becomes more important once the fundamental skills are there.
Later on, results mattered and was the focus..further honing that desire to compete and win ... again with everyone buying in as a team. No participation awards.

He enjoys buffalo a lot you can thank his uncle if he signs here

But if he signs here Kyle would have stay lol

- gerbe75pts

Actually he said he would not want to come to Buffalo because of his uncle. He said Buffalo already has a John Tavares and wouldn't want to do anything to take away from what his uncle has done here.

Especially when they keep bringing up Tavares and the Sabres.

So what's going on, on the inside of the Sabres braintrust these days? Anything good happening.
I gotta believe by now they have ID'd who they are keeping, who could get moved and for what in return

You said Dahlin wasn’t coming here either... How do we know he didn’t grow up a Sabres fan ? Not everyone in Southern Ontario is a Leafs fan, myself included. I vaguely remember the 2005-2008 years although I know those were the seasons that drew me to the team. My first Sabres jersey was a Afinoganov laminated one with the slug. Tavares is 4 years older then I, had an Uncle playing professional sports here, could easily have been immericed into Buffalo professional sports. I wouldn’t say him not coming here is impossible. Until he signs on the dotted line somewhere I’ll ponder the possibility.

the foundation is weak and doesn't run deep enough.. when the team starts to go bad they don't have enough depth to get below the frost.

they need to build from the ground up. improve the goaltending and defense, once you get those fixed it will help solve many of the goal scoring issues.

The fact is you think it's right is what he means by being brainwashed

There are multiple ways to solve problems.

Learning how to think for yourself is one of the many areas schools in this country are failing students.

Learn to think for yourself and you will find that out.

That also goes for the other way of solving math problems.

I will say this, how the common core is taught is what is wrong, not the common core itself.

a simple analogy might be using google maps..

to get from A to B you may have 3 options that all take the exact length of time but use different roads. is one of those options more correct than the other?

I doubt at this point in his career he's a "fan" of anywhere. It's about the business and wins. Same deal as Stamkos, most likely won't have the most attractive offer.

Not that I wouldn't want him here, but I hope the off season plans don't revolve around him the same way it was with Stamkos, ultimately leading to the okposo signing.
