I don't get it. Also, I'm part of this "participation trophy" generation. My hockey teams usually gave out something like a little brass skate to put on your desk. They also gave out regular awards for mvp, most improved, etc. It was kind of nice as a kid who sucked - and listen, when you suck at something, you know it and the other kids know it - to get that desk ornament as a reward for gutting it out and sticking with it. It's not like that little token thing made me feel like a special snowflake. I knew I was a 4th line player. It was still nice

Participation trophies aren't a millennial thing or generation z or something new at all.

i remember i got a lower grade on a test on one of my college courses and my dad said somethign to me about it.. i responded with i did all the work right but just imposed a number and got the answer wrong. he looked at me and said "your building just fell down and people died"

But they didn't praise being a loser and say that it was ok.

i have seen it.. i looked at it for about 15 seconds and figured out one of my nephews issues with what he was working on (i am a civil engineer i have most likely done much higher levels of math than you know about)...

but what does that have to do with simple if then math problems that you can't figure out?

But at say $12m, and with Jack and Casey here already, they could use that money to grab a two snipers...just gotta find them, and pickings are slim in FA. Hence why I do hope ROT gets moved for one anyway.

This is late '90s, early 2000s, but we were never praised for being losers. We were praised for effort, but winning and losing in sports at the age of 11, 12, 13 is immaterial. Learning to be a gracious winner and loser, and learning to be a teammate is what it should be about.

It is ok to lose in sports. Being a hardass and yelling at kids for losing is a great way to burn them out. Sports should be fun

math is still math. 2+2 will always = 4.. the way you get there is different but the result is the same. just like my dad with the building falling down. no one cares about the process of how you get there as long as the end result works
