Man you guys obviously don’t know what a good goalie is

dude would make incredible saves not one time but all game ..

Omg he let’s in 1 goal !!! He only can do so much when the forward group could not score one goal

We be lucky to have a another Miller in the system

All those cups he won, especially on that stacked Blues team

Botts needs to back up the brinks truck for Tavares. The time to spend money is now. Mitts and Dahlin on rookie deals. Bogo, Scandella, Moulson, will all be off the books by 2020. I think we might have a horse in the race for getting him, and if our 1/10 odds of us getting him ever turn out, it makes moving ROR that much easier.

Miller was good
Marty was ok

- Boss34

Marty would lose his glove for games at a time.

He could have 3 shutouts and then implode. Never consistent enough

I honestly had no clue who that was
Does he honestly think the younger generation would understand this

If he said something he’s better then Drew Doughty or etc

Terrible idea imo.

For anyone who hates ROR's contract, the $10+ million you would have to pay Tavares will look way worse in 4 years

On a 7 year deal, I think at worst we might regret years 6 and 7 of the deal. But if it brings us a cup would it matter at that point ? Botts is also a cap guy. Front load the contract and you can move it in the final two years if need be.

You're right about that

Front loading the contract isnt going to help with the cap hit though. Years 5, 6 and 7, his skating is gonna fall off and his production is gonna tank.

I personally wouldn't want anything to do with a Tavares contract

The cap hit will remain constant, but a team with a lot of cap space could be enticed to take on that contract if we tie something in with it. Clarkson was traded twice, Zona acquired Datsyuk’s contract. It can be done. And real money paid out to him would be minuscule enough even Carolina could afford it.

Minus the fact that Tavares is a consistent 30+ goal, 40+ Assist guy.

Where ROR cant even crack 30.

Tavares has 200 more points in roughly the same amount of games.

Other than that, agreed.

7YR 70MM contract.
Sing me up.

Will be 34 when the contract ends.

Trade ROR for young wingers.

Last year he had 66 points. 5 more than O'Reilly this year, and some team is gonna pay him 10+ a year. I just hope it isn't us

He had 84 this year, when O'Reilly had 61

Had 66 last year, when O'Reilly had 55.

That's a nice misleading post though

Last 3 years

Vs

Tavares will be 34 at the end. ROR finishes at 32 making $7.5. The baseline offer will be 7x10 from at least 8 teams, but no doubt there will be 11-11.5 offers. I just don't think it's a prudent move

I don't think we need to, but I certainly wouldn't complain if we added a true star player.

It could be that Dennis Potvin was a super high-end Dman who followed in Bobby Orr’s footsteps only was tougher. Offensive dynamo, defensively solid, hard hitter/ physical player ... oh and leader.
The import of that statement relates to 2 points:
1- quality of player
2- length of time since that package in a DMan came into the league...including Doughty and those before him.

There s this app called Google. In Reading classes they teach you to look up words you don’t understand. That strategy applies to more than just words.
