if they get off to a slow or mediocre start next year they'll have trouble selling out that building. there is not going to be any enthusiasm going into the season.

There could be some. It all depends on what moves are/aren't made.

Nice article on Cayden Primeau, who looks like a complete steal from the Habs.

Good to know we have people in the organization that can step up and make the right calls.

Always on goaltenders though.

i'm not so sure a $33 million contract for Patrick Maroon will move the needle but we'll see.

They can also move Pacioretty and some 2nd rounders to acquire another 1st
- obie

You never get fair value when you deal a goal scorer...but yeah they could move him but they should keep their 2nd rounders unless they package them for a late 1st. They need to replenish they prospects pool badly, and it's a good draft year.

I guess it depends on what you consider fair value for a 30 goal scorer on his last year before FA... But Pacioretty and a 2nd probably gets you in the top 12 of the draft... But I would definitely explore trading that pick for the right C and they are out there!

Have to imagine he would garner a return similar to Kessel.

I think a couple more years being mentored by Plekanec will be useful, that way he might outscore Plek in the playoffs...eventually

Hard to say, the Leafs were in full rebuild when they made that deal, Habs seem unwilling to follow suit so, they're demands might be different

Kessel's biggest problem was his contract being viewed as too long and overpaid back in the day, with him coming off the worst season of his career to boot.

Aside from both of them being elite goal scorers in the NHL, I think their situation is quite different.
