At the same time, their other models aren't really selling all that much.

So they're reducing their production costs and focusing on the models that are actually profitable.

Doesn't sound so dumb to me.

More and more people are buying small SUVs (especially the old ladies who want to feel safe). Those things make pretty good gas mileage and there are hybrid versions as well...

At the same time, their other models aren't really selling all that much.

Depends, alot of them have a 4 cylinder turbo that you don't get in the compact.
