i'd bet sweeney would pay a lot for trouba - Tumbleweed
Krug - McAvoy
Carlo - Trouba
is a pretty sweet top 4. Offensive pair and matchup pair. |

Wrong.
Chiarelli would trade the equivalent, but for Tobias Enstrom. |

Its possible the venn diagram of the waffle throwers and gardiner blamers is a circle
the Leafs needed to address the D last offseason and during the season and didnt.
they dont have much choice but to play Gardiner 25 mins a game |

I agree and they can afford it with picks, prospects and cap space, unlike - as suggested the oilers who have $34+ million tied up in McDavid, Draisaitl, Lucic, RNH and Pouliot |

I think the leafs need someone like Buff....or actually BUFF!
Leafs need more grit....not to fight but just some players who finish hits and will make people pay for every inch of the ice (who have skill as well)...didnt seem like most leafs did that.
The new GM needs to get 2-3 better dmen.

You guys are looking at this from the totally wrong angle. We in Boston do not land the big player in a trade because we're the one's shipping them out.
I seriously cannot recall the Bruins trading for a significant player with term, but can rattle off a good 5 or 6 ones we've sent packing. |

Sure, if JT is a no-go. But he's not a bargain at $6 million per for 40 to 50 points, so Chia pet would have to have $1.5 Mil retained salary.

he's easily a +50 point player and is a true 2-way C. injuries are concern.
but much like hall, he could be do for a breakout if he can get out of edmonton. |

Chara signed a pretty big deal as a UFA, and his time is almost up in your neck of the woods. A replacement is required, and you cannot tell me that the management does not have a serious boner for Trouba. Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised to see Sweeny offer sheet Trouba.

chara probably has only 1 year left.
beregon is getting up there. even marchand. makes sense for the bruins to pay a premium to get trouba. |

I think he's good, but a bit of a softie for a $6 million salary, and as you pointed out injury prone. Hall much better player IMO.

Oh I'm sure they do.
I was just kidding around saying from a Bruins historical perspective we never ever land the big player, just ship them out. I can't name one that we have acquired in a trade. |

Between Trouba and McAvoy, RHD would be a non-issue for a long time.

So why did Babcock let him play 25mins? He could have put the pairings in a blender and given more ice time to Rielly, Dermott and Polak.
Jake is what he is and needs to be deployed in a way that he can have success. |

Going through old trades...this. this one stings. I know we may not have made the same pick, but my god.

Meh, 129th pick rarely yields an nhl player, let alone an art ross winner

I think Chara could still play another 2-3 years easy.
Sure he might be slow, but his 12 foot stick makes up for it. They'll keep him around to have a solid defensive defenseman, the type of Dman that are hard to come by in the league. Most teams lack that. Especially the Leafs.
