I wonder how many teams over the summer will try and emulate LVGK and just trade for a roster. Draft be damned. The New Model.

As long as we're not one of them I hope lots of teams do. Less scraps to tempt JB

What is it with this fixation or hang up on one word rebuild? OCD issues?

I'm with you brother. Mixed messages either means you are lying or you don't fully understand the situation.

The problem with this general statement is that it's often based on fan interpretations influenced by media with a douse typical fan group think. People promote narratives rather than listen to the actual words being spoken all too often. I find that even more frustrating that the poorly answered questions by Jim and Trevor to be honest but try not gripe about it.

I haven't found it as mixed as many make it out to be. Fans being confused is not going to make or break a teams rebuild that's for sure. They may break their key board though.

I'm honestly confused as to what a rebuild means for this team. We are already going to have a very young roster this year with only 3 players over the age of 30(one of whom is Biega). Seems to me there's not much left to tear down now that the Sedins are gone. Goaltending is coming, forwards are coming, hopefully at this and the next draft they can build up our prospects on D and supplement our prospects at fwd.

Unless all that you mean by rebuild is refuse to make trades for or sign players who are too old/could become anchors.

Like I was saying... for the most part, we ride on narratives instead asking questions like you just did. Good post.

Ppl leap to conclusions when not hearing what they want. Eat up what media purveys like lemmings then once a crowd they join it. Comfort found hanging in the crowd doesn’t equate into making any sense. Then what follows is rampant parroting due to lack of ones own ability to opine. Media driven ppl are insufferable.

Why is it so difficult to understand that each teams situation is different? This attitude about rebuild needed time for contracts to expire. Idc what other teams do or don’t do it only matters what we do & saying that we are doing ok.

One thing that gets me is how the media talks about a teams rebuild being proper and ours a mess... but the following seasons ahead, that very team is sucking. The media has moved onto a list of other teams as the a model.... It reflects in the fan base. If those teams are doing it right, then there should be a generation of success ahead but the focus often is on a single season of success and a ceiling of simply making the playoffs or a winning season or finding a star in the draft.

The owner chose his path with the Sedin signing. That was before Benning. Things followed the path I was seeing in front of us. People want Benning to admit that for 3 or 4 seasons or they are confused? I wouldn't let the media do that to me. Just noise to me....

Building a team with a controller for decades will make it seem quite simple.

My opinion on this was from watching and listening to interviews and hearing different answers to similar questions and differing narratives on the progress & direction of the team. This happened a couple of times during the season and I formed my own opinion from what I deciphered. I laugh at & dismiss the local sports media on here more than most posters.
I don't think I'm alone on hearing a sometimes confusing or contradicting message coming from management. We'll see how this off season and next season goes to indicate a consensus in direction and approach.

It's impossible to lay out a perfect rebuild system when so much that can happen is random. For example, making the decision to pick Dale Weise up off of waivers eventually turned into Gaudette, who might just be a good player for us for several years. There's no way to know what chances an organization takes will work out or not in the moment.

Obviously there were a handful of missed opportunities earlier in Benning's time when older players probably should have been sold for picks but those decisions are in the past and the team as it is looks like a rebuild to me. Thus why it confuses me when people say "this team needs to rebuild" like it isn't already happening.

Restocking i prefer over media coined rebuild. Which of these older players should have been sold for picks that had no nmc or ntc’s?

If Dobson/tkachuk/wahlstrom are all gone by 7OA, would you guys entertain something around 7oa for Hanifin or just draft BPA?

There's no denying the ears hear contradicting messages specially with so many mouths offering answers to the same question.

The eyes tell us the plan all along was to try and be competitive while the Sedin's were still here and they rode that out to the end. The owner saw immediate results with his new GM... that didn't help pulling him from that plan the following 3 seasons. Luckily, the future was important enough to FA that he hired someone who was competent in drafting and stuck with him rather than fire him for missing the playoffs. So that was obviously part of the plan as well and has paid off in quality prospects and there are more to come this season.

The post Sedin era. Phase 2.

The media are leeches mostly. Very few have a clue about the sport they report & ask leading Q’s that their little minds think matter. Tabloid dummies most of them are & those who lap it up are as well. The worst is intermission interviews when a player is asked a Q the interviewer gives the answer already. Some really piss poor stuff & boring as all heck. The game needs flamboyance not that garbage.

How about what teams need what most & picks accordingly? BPA is overstated after the top 2 are gone.

Buffalo Dahlin
Carolina Svechnikov (need scoring)
Montreal C & scoring is priority
Ottawa C & D possible coin flip
Arizona D
Detroit RHD

If correct who slots in & leaves us who to pick from?

Hughes is doing very well VS NHL players in the WC right now. I could see him going top 5 with that play TBH.

So that means Dahlin Svechnikov Dobson Tkachuk Wahlstrom Hughes are all gone in the top 6 using your examples. Leaves us Zadina falling to us. If u agree then how do like that possibilty? Earlier i had Tkachuk maybe falling to us but prefer Wahlstrom. I’d be happy with either more so if they can play C in the future. Boqvist atm is an enigma for me. No matter what we will get a good player that i hope fills a need & turns into something special. I cannot get away from my own fixation to acquire more high picks with NYI sticking out like a sore thumb. Comes down to Tanev as usual.

Your post makes no sense and you should feel bad.
All I said was based off of WC play(you know playing against NHL players) and playing well could land the kid, who is considered by most a top 8 and by some already a top 5 pick, in the top 5. Dobson, Wahlstrom, Tkachuk are not currently playing against men, though Dobson is doing quite well in the CHL playoffs.
His play could propel him ahead of Dobson/Bouchard as he does have more skill than them and his play is showing that he should not have an issue transitioning into a mens league and being effective.
