OK, but at what point do Dubas and Hunter share the blame for us having such piss-poor defence? - Atomic Wedgie
Rumor at the start of the year was dubas wanted c.miller out of vegas and lou didn’t. if true, that would have helped us.
Shanny has the insight into who wanted what move; including ones that were passed on. Dumping lou would not have been easy. There has to be things internally that pushed him to do it.

I might be wrong, but I think it was Lou's idea to step aside

And how was MARNER not a great pick? you a big Carolina fan? watch Hanifin TONS? id much prefer MARNER as he's been a STUD. Tell me another guy in the 4-7 range that's shown more promise. - Burkefection

Rantanen just ended the season witb 84 points.
Connor 57 in 76 games.
Boeser 55 in 62.
They are very much in the same conversation imo.
I guess we disagree. - Scabeh
84 pts not 85.
So he didn’t make the cut.
Is this forum you have to include the leafs fan curve which increase the players talent and points by 25%.
Which makes Marner an 86 point player and Dubas a superstar gm.

Can anyone make the case why the Leafs should choose Dubas over Hunter?
I think most would agree that Hunter's draft record with Toronto has been very good. He is widely regarded as having a keen eye for talent, both in the amateur and professional levels. By some media accounts, he wants to be an NHL GM.
Dubas' skills are reputed to be primarily in analytics.
I just don't see the reasons to choose Dubas for the job over Hunter.

Leafs trade their 25th pick to Vancouver for Chris Tanev. Canucks trade their 7th and 25th picks to Buffalo for the 1st pick overall. - Beatle_john
Beatle John trades his pristine original Butcher Block Cover Beatles album straight up for an original copy of the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack. The he proceeds to hang a giant photo of Jack Eichel wearing jorts in his living room.
