The fact that Malkin, Kessel, Rust, Sheary and Brassard were useless, Murray couldn't stop a beachball and Letang apparently forgot how to play D is why they lost - sammy87
If the pens could unload hagelin, sheary, and hunwick over the offseason that’d be considered a win. Sprong should be getting tons of time with the big club next year as well as some of the other kids. Evander Kane would be my ideal free agent target. His speed, skill, and physicality would be nice to have. Imagine horny and kane on the same line? Would love to see Ian cole back. Maybe jack johnson at a cap friendly deal as well |

Well who is everyone's picks for the Cup Final? I have Tampa Bay and Preds, so my bracket is still intact as of now. I have the Preds winning the Cup in 6. |

I don't think we should trade Hags. He's overpaid for sure, but he's only got one more year. As for Sheary and Hunwick, we might need a genie to make those guys/contracts disappear.
I honestly don't think the team needs much tweaking. I'd like to see them add a depth wing with size like Benoit Pouliot and give Sprong a long look. Comeau would be on my list too. I think we'll be right back to a top contender next season after a nice rest. |

I know it's a crap shoot, but it would be nice to get a winger that would mesh with Brassard. He got a lot of flak for his performance and some of it was warranted, but he was dragging around Sheary. |

I've been banging the Sheary drum since we gave him 3mil. He has 2 goals in his last 34 playoff games. I think Rutherford would like a mulligan. Some smaller players handle physical play pretty well, Sheary on the other hand struggles badly when teams put a body on him. I soured on him in last years playoffs when he was deservedly scratched. 2 f'n points in this playoffs, no goals. Simon was dreadful and he managed to get 3 assists.
I agree entirely about dragging Sheary around. Sheary routinely tanked his line all season. I wonder if Brassard ever got back to 100%. He never seemed to skate the same after his groin injury. |

Not sure what answer is about Shags. He's a really solid PKer & is dangerous but doesn't score enough. |

I must say the Caps PK appeared to work pretty well.
3 games with a 100% kill. Important games stopping the best PP in the comp. |

Ah yes.... The butt hurt is great with you. With 5 cups since 1991, it would seem the hockey gods have actually kicked you in the nuts frequently. |

Oleksiak is a perfectly fine bottom pairing defenseman. He always had those warts like poor decision making, they're just the type that don't bother you until you keep seeing them.
It also helped that he found a great comfort level with Cole, didn't really click with another partner quite as well. But still, I think he's a keeper, just not a future top 4. - Tojo.
Never saw him as a top four.
I’d love for the Pens to find him partner in the mold of Daley. |

Just for that, in ten years from now they’re going to draft two generational talents in a row again.
We as fans suffered through the Tarnstrom era and we’ll handle the next one. |

Hey now! I refer to that as the Morozov era. Or, the Rico Fatas era maybe? |

I love Hagelin even at $4M. Might not be much of a sniper, but he is still a high impact player. He makes the guys he is playing with better by being a hard forechecker and doing a lot of dirty work. |

He definitely has top 4 talent. He can skate pretty well for a big guy, has a booming shot and can chip in on the rush. He just needs to get meaner and work on positioning and exits a bit more.
I agree with you about finding a partner he can play with consistently. I want the Pens to get back to having 3 solid pairings. They rode Letang a lot of minutes and frankly he was not very good. |

Can someone explain the Sheary hate? It's not the greatest contract in the world, but the guy put up middle-6 winger production for middle-6 winger money. |

This is why (to me) he's not a top-4. He's a good player when he's played with proper match-ups, zone starts, and minutes. But if you want him playing on the 2nd pair consistently, the two things you just mentioned will leave him exposed. |

Cause when you need to win a game you obviously need your 7th or 8th best forward to be your best player. |
