May wanna hold off on this whole scenario. Not sure Brind'Amour takes the head coaching position if they plan to trade the #2. - usmcaaron
Thanks for the update. Hadn’t seen that. Updated the blog with this info. Also, my mistake. Had written Brind’Amour, brain cramp, was Joe Nieuwendyk who left the team. Corrected in blog. Apologies for error. |

See Eric Staal.
Nash might thrive somewhere, there's a good chance he never will. But someone with the space is going to take that chance. I would not be surprised to see him go beast mode in the playoffs one season and be a difference maker. I don't want to try him again here unless he comes back in for dirt cheap. - JRR1285
It's possible, but Staal really only had one god-awful year and it was the year that you guys traded for him. Also, Nash is way more injury prone. Staal has played 79, 77, 83, 82, 82 games over each of the last 5 seasons. Nash has played 65, 79, 60, 67, 71 over that span. His point totals have tailed off, too. I don't see him having a very big resurgence. Looking ahead, I think his value is as a depth forward now that will occasionally flash some of the old-days. |

Here is what Rick Nash is, IMO.
He's a guy that is going to score somewhere between 20-25 goals. He works his ass of every shift, back checks, kills penalties, does all of the little things right. He's a true pro and would probably be a great influence in some team's room. He just can't really score much anymore.
What is that type of player worth? - Pete V

I am not either. I would much prefer to pay a much smaller price to move up a couple spots (maybe for a second round pick) if they really want to insure they get the second tier player they want. I am just not convinced that either Zadina or Svenchnikov are worth the price.
Another thing that we don't talk about often is using those two late first rounders to move a second Rangers first round pick up the ladder. Maybe you could leave the draft with something like Wahlstrom and Wilde or Dobson/Hughes and Veleno/Hayton, which I like better than the idea of just drafting one player.
Not saying either tactic is wrong, but I just prefer leaving this draft with more assets. - Pete V
Was focused here on moving to three. But I can can see packing picks to get into the back end of that second tier or first part of the third tier in the 10-14 range. |

I heard that Rod Brind'amour loves Namestiknov and has always though of him as his long lost Russian son.

Brind’Amour landing the Carolina head coaching job leaves the Rangers as the only team without a head coach. Buyer’s market? |

There is almost nothing you could trade that would make it worth it for Carolina, who is starved for a star player.
Svechnikov has superstar potential. |

Nieuwendyk wasn't doing anything in Carolina anyway. He was mostly just there so Francis could bounce ideas off of him. |
