Yes Benny, you are correct again. That's usually how it works in hockey. One team scores more goals than the other team, or, one goalie stops more pucks than the other goalie.

Its a simple game actually. Either score more or stop more. We didn't do either last nite.

Does anyone know of a good Power Skating coach that can be recommended to Laine so he can improve on his "piano tied his @$$" skating skills over the summer when the season concludes??

- CharlieDog

Totally agree about Laine. He needs to do 2 things in the off-season - work on his skating and watch videos of Ovie.

Thanks Benny, the 14 giveaway number sounded a lot like someone talking out of their ass.

I count a giveaway as a player losing the puck clean to another player with no apparent cause or reason for it. Outside of poor decision making, that is.

For example, Little losing a 50/50 puck battle in the corner? Not a giveaway for me.
Myers throwing a pass into Ehlers’ skates so that a Nashville player can pick it up and skate away? Giveaway.
Myers skating himself out of room and dumping it so Nashville can play it up in the middle of our line change? Giveaway.
Myers sending an absolute muffin of a pass behind our net, straight on to the stick of a Nashville player is another giveaway.

The dude is clueless.

On the bright side this playoffs, Laine has not helped raise his contract demands, hasn’t done enough in post season to ask for huge $$$$. Same can be said for Trouba.

I thought the 14 was a bit of embellishment as well. Quite a discrepancy from Rexy and NHL.com

The Morrissey-Trouba pairing has been dominant. Morrissey has obviously been god-tier, but Trouba has been excellent as well. I do think Trouba’s wonky regular season will push him back into the Reilly/Lindholm/Jones range

He will never accept anything near their range ( they all start with a 5 ) but if we can get both of them (Trouba morrisey) locked up with it starting with a 6, I’d be ecstatic

Basically, I offer Trouba 6 (slightly above his peers) and JoMo 5 (doesn’t have the raw offensive numbers, use the advantage).
I also offer Connor the exact deal Ehlers got (you can have 6, but not more than Scheifele).
Hellebuyck is a gong show, so who knows.
Toby is back at 2.
Myers, Mason, and (maybe) Kulikov are all moved.
Petan and Dano to Washington (pleeeease, Chevy, let them play before you end their careers).
Armia, Tanev, and Poolman should all be 1.5 or less.

I’m working from memory here, so if I missed someone, let me know.

You guys are fools talking about the offseason. I have believed in this team since the beginning of this season and am not going to stop now.

Jets will win on Thursday!

GO JETS GO!!!

I was just stating a point about what's transpired thus far in regards to contracts. no one is giving up.

I can see Morrisey taking the 5 but there were rumors Trouba's camp wanted over 8, if that's the case he is either playing one more year on a 1 year deal or will be moved. But he wont take just over 6.
I also offer Connor the exact deal Ehlers got (you can have 6, but not more than Scheifele). agree
Hellebuyck is a gong show, so who knows. Id say like Anderson's deal 4x4 or 5x5
Toby is back at 2. I can take it or leave it but a one year at 2 wont kill me
Myers, Mason, and (maybe) Kulikov are all moved. if somehow we get Trouba locked up yes, Myers will be moved, if no Trouba extension, no Myers trade, sorry to break bad news, Mason and Kulikov will not be traded, there will be no takers for those deals and I'm ok with both. Mason can back up one more year and Kuli is a nice bridge to Niku and Samberg
Petan and Dano to Washington (pleeeease, Chevy, let them play before you end their careers). I actually see the Rangers or Habs as more likely trade candidates as both are loaded with picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. I include Armia in this group, he to could be traded at the draft.
Armia, Tanev, and Poolman should all be 1.5 or less. agree, anywhere between 1-2

I actually agree with pretty much all of these, except for KC ($1M less than Ehlers would be better)

Jets PP was awful. The difference was right there. I also have to comment on a few others...where was the Buff that we saw most of the playoffs ?....where was a hard hitting Lowry ? Trouba was near invisible.

Bottom line is Nashville wanted it so much more. They were winning every race to the puck, they were hustling and back-checking back in bunches, they were determined to give every ounce of effort to win. They also did it one player short. Jets need to find a new level of energy if they want to advance because it just wasn't good enough tonight.

I absolutely agree with everything you wrote.

I am baffled by the PP zone entry - we cant get in clean, as we keep getting stood up at the line. We keep dropping the back to the last guy who then carries it to the blue line & tries to carry it in or dump it. The problem is when he dumps it in, we have no speed because all of our guys are standing at the Preds blue line waiting for him. If you are going to dump it in, it needs to be done so that the other 4 guys on our team are at top speed in order to recover the puck. If all of the Preds guys are standing on the line, we should be winning the puck race every time. This is very simple coaching/strategy - I just don't get it.

The same thing is happening 5v5, so either you dump in with speed (recover, pressure, hit hard) or you put it on net & repeatedly force faceoffs in the Preds zone, which is how Laine scored in game 4 - boring hockey, but effective results.

I can see some potential takers for Mason. Although this season was terrible injury wise, don't forget that we signed him to be our starting goaltender not even 1 year ago.

Teams looking to stabilize the position with a proven starting tender on a 1 year deal could include: Carolina, Islanders, Avs, Red Wings, Sabres and maybe the Oilers.

To me we stick with the plan and keep Mason and move either Myers or Trouba before the draft. (Which one depends completely on if Trouba is willing to sign a reasonable deal or not. If so, extend Trouba immediately and pull the trigger on a Myers trade.
