And one final one on lick-gate, #NHLJets Tyler Myers on it happening to him: "The guys aren't tall enough to lick me."

No they're both slow that's the problem with these two

Our GM has talked about being faster one of them will be gone

- gerbe75pts

they are not slow, just not fast

you can have one of these guys on each line, just not 2

perfect world

I would put casey, jack and skunk on the top line
nylander, ror, and either baptiste or bailey on the second line

smith, e rod, baptiste/bailey on the third line

wilson, some scrub, pommer on the 4th line

time to put okposo on ltir

He will fight

It's not his job to fight, it's his job to create goals.

You act like he gets scummed and he just won't do anything about it.

C’mon man! You are better than that.

When Marchand lickers his push face, he will turtle and look for someone to do something...
That is lol at best

Laine on his ELC, Wheeler WAAAAAAAAAAY under market value help a lot
- Stripes77

Wheeler, in the 14th 'season' since his draft, had his best year.

The Jets bet on him correctly, but what do they do after next year when he is a UFA?

If he has another season similar to or the same as this one, he's going to be looking for a ton, and he'll be turning 33 before the season begins.

No, the sports in Buffalo are the problem.

Become good and all this stuff takes care of itself

scheifele, trouba and ehlers too. Role players as well like Lowry.
- Sabresfan-365

Trouba is looking to and likely going to get paid.

Scheifele signed his deal 2 years ago, right before he broke out with his 30 goal, 50 assist season. He had essentially a 30-30 season before that, when he was 23.

I wonder what contract he would have received if the scenario was the same but it was now and not two years ago. I bet he would have expected $7M per, and received it.

And people say he's weak. That was a damn fine job of staying upright there.

I doubt there's a player in the league, that given the right circumstances doesn't drop the gloves, even Mr Bongos himself dropped them.

Both are too soft.
Basically 1 hit every other game?

Who's faster ror or sam?

2 guys that must be recognized as an easy game thru out the nhl.

Hopefully our identity changes. We lack backbone.

- Boss34

Is Jack too soft? He had 26 hits in 61 games last year.

It's not their job to throw hits.

Eventually all your star players get paid, that's the whole point. to try and win while your cap window is open. The Scheifele contract is part of the building process. Betting big on guys before they've peaked. MacKinnon is a good example, so is Karlsson.

Good GMs bet correctly more often than not. Bad GMs trade for guys one year from UFA status and pay them whatever they want, in bonuses and agree to sign their career-AHLer brother as well.

What?

There are only oblique references to people. Never is it ""A" did "B" for "C"". It's "I heard "A" was fired/resigned because "B" said "A" poop talked them, but I know "A" and he would never would never say anything like that..." It's never anyone's fault that something goes wrong. Ownership is being unreasonable, but not really because they never actually say that.

U can’t just decide to put someone on LTIR
They actually have to be hurt

Play Okposo with Jack this year
Hopefully he stays healthy
If he does, his stats will surely rebound
Then we can possibly trade him

I wonder how concerned the Avalanche were with that deal after last season, when he had basically Sam Reinhart point totals 2 years in a row?

Based on what you said in your first paragraph, the clock is ticking on the Jets big time, as it's either this year or next based on Laine and Wheeler.

You do know he wins a ton of battles in the corner right?

He just isn't physical about it, he's smart, a stick lift is far more effective than a body check in almost every battle in the corners.

I will say this he gets knocked down a lot.

I would be willing to bet push comes to shove he would drop his gloves. Find me one instance where that has even come close to happening.

You can't

He had 69 points the first year his contract kicked in

Coming off a 41 point in 48 game season and 64 points in the season prior.

There was no betting there. He was a 60 point player at minimum for the last 7 years.

$5.6 million for 60 points? Sign me up all day everyday.

On top of that he very rarely misses a game.

Blake Wheeler was the most underrated player in the league for the longest time.

I have wanted him in Buffalo for the last 6 years.

As far as his next contract, well he is going to be 32 next season so 33 when his next contract will begin.

4 years $7.5 million per.

Exactly the Peg have some bad contract but they also make up for it with Wheelers deal.

Their jobs - as if ror, sam and jack are equals.

Jack plays a way tougher/heavy game than either of those softies. Hits are only part of playing tough or being difficult to play against.

We need someone to help protect jack not have jack protect sam.

As for speed sam and ror are average . I would give ror the advantage from seeing them play live. Just my eye and opinion

If he has another 90 point season no but I don't see that happening and he will be turning 33. He is getting a lot of assists from Laine here. He has never scored 30 goals in a season in his career though.

Sure do, and part of them looking brilliant on the Wheeler deal is being lucky he said yes to it.

It's not only smart moves, it's also about good fortune and luck that some of the moves turn out even better then hoped.
