Well, that is a debate.
With respect to Risto, !!IF!! PHam is right in pointing to him specifically as one of the guys who doesn’t listen to the coach and plays his own game (in a team sport) AND it has been for 2 coaches now ... what to do with a player like that?

Would McDermott & Beaner stand for this scenario...

-4th and 7 on the Bills 49, 49 seconds to go, Bills down by 1
-Allen takes the snap and drops back
-Pats are on a 5 man blitz, with heavy pressure coming up the middle
-Allen calmly turns to his right and throws a pass into the flats as a dumpoff to Shady outside the hash marks
- Shady?, Shady?!!!
-WTF? shady ran a streak down the left sideline...no chip to the Blitzing LB...just took off long!!!!

- Pats get the ball, run out the clock
-Brady awards a game ball to Shady...”he was our best player during crunch time”

- IonSabres

Didn't he also say that the Sabres didnt get Antipin an English tutor, which turned out to be completely false?

given the fact it was obvious the tank was on by christmas

antipin should have been used more

IMO botts and housley mishandled him and the result is 1 and done

How is Sam a core player ? I don't think anybody should list him as a core player until he develops consistency
- gerbe75pts

he was pretty consistent for the last half of the season

dumb a$$

Why, though? He gave us the Ville Leino special for 47 games. Zero goals.

That's a good question ..

He has the potential to be one but I would have to see how he performs with us to determine that

He is only 21 and this is right around the time where defense players start to spread their wings

I think skunk, although not considered a core player, at least as of yet, will make for a very strong complimentary piece

as for Hecht, that's a little harsh...sam will never reach that status until he can score consistently from behind the end line

- Michael Pachla

did anyone get more fluke goals as a sabre than hecht?

I mean he could bank it off a d mans skate with the best of them

if he is, then trading a complimentary player for a core player makes sense for the sabres...

but does it make sense for the canes, especially when their wings are pretty full right now...

the player they could really use is ror

No idea. I can’t imagine they would do that deal.

I’m fine with Reinhart staying here.

I’m just not fine with no big changes, and I don’t think drafting Dahlin should effect the need to gut a good portion of that roster

skunk after 3 years has already crushed the great tim connolly's goal production as a sabre

timmy never got 19 in any season

skunk averaged 22 a year for the last 3 years

not bad for a 20, 21 and a 22 year old

I will never get the hate for him on this site

I am not going to respond to that cheap shot

antipin had talent and played D

that's like comparing dahlin to cam barker

in that scenario a trade of ror or risto is what's left when it comes to players...

it will be interesting to watch this play out...i'm fine with keeping all three despite how the team performed last season...like has been posted by others, I think ror can provide a year of protection for Eichel and mittlestadt and i'd like to see risto carry the weight while dahlin gets his feet wet

skinner, lilndholm, aho, teravainen...

their top center is victor rask, who's good, but not a true #1...staal is No. 2
