This is the thing that bothers me. If that's the case then why keep Garth at all? Unless he's in a dunk both raising fund for charity then there is no reasons to have him involved at all. It makes no sense to me!

I think Garth should go as well Jimmy, but then it goes back to these crazy theories as to what kind of deal Wang gave him. You would think L&M could easily afford to fire Garth and pay the remaining salary? Without knowing the exact details of Garth's contract it's hard to tell. Notice how everything seems to be leaking today and Garth's contract remains a mystery?

I've said this before but this theory doesn't make any sense to me at all. What exactly is the point of keeping an employee who does nothing? This "promote him" (even though he already is)into a POH roll is complete, total fodder. I get it everyone wants to believe he's going to have zero input while he's the POH or remains the GM and Lou is the POH but think about that for a second. Why in God's name would he be kept on in any capacity to do nothing? With all of the public backlash league wide and from within the fan base it makes zero sense. Common sense would tell anyone that and there's no contract stopping them from firing him that is complete, utter, nonsense. The league would never approve such a contract especially from Wang who is/was pretty much unanimously despised league wide. I remember a GM's meeting and owners meeting the owners referred to Wang as "white noise" everytime he spoke. If Snow is still here along with Weight he'll have at the very least some impact in decision making thinking otherwise is fooling yourself.

Believe me i want the same thing but as Jimmy put it this is nothing more than a "cosmetic" move in an extremely lame attempt to appease the masses.
If it goes down as being reported I for one am not lapping up this bullshat because you can bet your arse that's exactly what it is. To me this is just another slap in the face if it happens. They're keeping this guy here because they like him. Period. Making up excuses as to why is ridiculous and something that a lot of Islander fans love to do.

Yes, I’m assuming, but I’m also going on what’s written in Newsday which i have to believe has more credibility than say BD Gallof.

“So, the odds are, if Lamoriello does come to the Islanders, it will be with some kind of guarantee he can begin to re-mold the franchise in his image. Which is not to say Lamoriello cannot work with others because Shanahan was the clear boss in Toronto.

But Lamoriello would likely want to be the final voice on personnel decisions, players or otherwise.“

- kindlyrick

The same Newsday that said this?

"Lamoriello, is known to be close with Isles GM Garth Snow and it is believed they could co-exist as front office teammates."

I'm not sure I exactly trust the MHL in these things Cpt. Remember Spano almost bought another team before the Isles and I think it was the NHL who recommended Spano to the Isles. This is the same NHL who thinks this playoff format is a good idea and who decides games with 3on3 and a SO. What other major sport does things like this? Let's not forget how they went into the tank for Vegas with that Expansion draft. L&M have no ties to Garth. He was not hired by them. If he only had a couple of years left on his deal why not just fire the guy when it would be praise from Isles fans? Only thing that makes sense is Garth's contract is more complicated than we think. I only seem Lou joining the team as a good thing right now. If it turns out not to be a good thing I'll admit it.

Some poho are hands on and some are all about off ice stuff some are marketing so he could be put in a role where he doesn't touch the day to day operations.

I don't think Lou joining the team is a bad thing but I believe Snow staying counteracts whatever positivity is linked to it.

I'm aware but I don't believe for a second that Garth Snow the man who trys to control everything and only hires people he can 100% control is going to be one of those POH's. Not for a second. If he's here and Weight is still here that tells you exactly what's going on.

Like I mentioned yesterday, Garth has a Business degree so let him do something along those lines. Just to be clear I want Garth totally out of the Org.

I just do not think Lou puts himself into a bad position and especially with his son having a front row seat. This is also not Lou's first Rodeo. I'd be more worried if Fitzgerald or Fenton coming in with Garth still around since this would be Fitzgerald or Fenton first time in the big chair.

I know you do and I know everyone on here does there's no debate there. Speaking of debates I'm moving on from this one it's becoming tired. There's no point in continuing it none of us are going t change each other's minds and believe me I hope you're all right and I'm wrong...

I have a hard time with this whole Lou and Snow are best buds narritive that Staple started. He uses Snow hiring lous son as reasoning. Sorry staple that doesn't mean they're long lost buds. After Staple posted that story every other writer that discusses the Islanders ran with it. Up to that point I have never heard one thing about Lou and Snow having any kimd of relationship not once. It's just a wee bit suspicious to me.

It's all good Cpt and honestly we do not have enough to go on right now. It's not official but I have to think it's looking good since we are seeing all these articles coming out. The Garth thing and his contract is very frustrating as well since we do not know exactly what the Wacko Wang gave him.

I'm sure Lou loves Snow. For years he shoveled all of the Devils' leftover turds straight into Snow's mouth.

I always heard Garth looked up to Lou and Lou got along well with Garth. I think Lou has the ability to work and get along well with others and at the same time Lou will do things his way and will not cave and especially not to Garth.

Three months ago I'd have been happy with someone else being brought in and Snow being moved into a position with little to no responsibilities.

Three weeks ago I'd have been happy with Snow being fired and completely removed from the organization.

Now, with the way this has dragged out, anything less than Snow being fired out of a cannon into the Atlantic Ocean is unacceptable to me.
