You are seriously underestimating Garth's narcissism. He will not give up control willingly. He truly believes he's right and is the smartest person. He will fight to the end. He cannot be allowed to have any part of the Islanders.
- JimmyP

He doesn't have to fight. They're keeping him that speaks volumes. Nobody wants to see that but this is looking like nothing more than a PR move.

So... yes, where there is smoke, we know #isles org wants/needs senior oversight. So we will see what follows next. Just find lack of contract and permissions context a bit strange

We keep hearing about chatter and leaks abound, yet no clarity to “permission” to speak to someone under another teams contract. I find that odd #isles

More b.d. I hate this (frank)

I think we are ALL in agreement that #isles org NEEDS something. The biggest item I see beyond the on-ice (which I think remains static to get JT re-signed) is player development and overall hierarchy

This is where Lou excels and is a hall of fame “builder”. This is a bigger item than just being a senior advisor to another GM. And this is where I personally think what #isles are trying to get here

Seriously anything about the isles he poops on
- Upstate_isles

He's just a fat, insecure loser who trys to hard to be smart which of course means he's an idiot. His arrogance is just a defense mechanism. Extremely transparent.

It may be just a PR move until Garf's contract runs out from sale of team. But I do not think anything will change this season bc the speech will be "evaluating all aspects"

Come on Lou is going to take this job just as PR and let Garth ruin his reputation?

It's going to be great PR for the Isles and for players and agents having Lou in charge. Maybe the jokes can stop or drastically decrease at least.

Having someone like Lou makes it possible for JT to re-sign. Asbad as things look now. Lou has good pieces to turn this around. If Lou is in charge I hope a new coach is brought in. That could really help things as well.

There's no way to know that. I for one don't believe Lou is going to have full control. This is going to be collaborative BS imo. The owners want him here if they didn't he would be gone. Since they want him here he's going to have some semblance of control. Sorry to say but everyone is fooling themselves thinking otherwise.

You said nothing will happen never mind Lou having control. No need to bring Lou here if they don’t give a shat about the on ice product or am I missing something?

Isles fans are not dumb. We will know real quick who is really in charge. I cannot see Lou at this stage putting up with any BS after everything he has done. Lou is going to play the fool and with his son in the organization?

All kidding aside, I get any frustration and doubt after everything that we've been through with this team. I still stand by my feeling after that press conference that L&M were not just going to keep things as is with no changes. No way they come back and tell everyone they decided on no changes or they were just going to stay in hiding when they know the very intense backlash these actions would cause.

Do you see them hiring Lou, but keeping Weight as the head coach and Snow as either GM or PoHO? I do. To me that would be just as bad as making no changes.

Ses, your feelings were right. The problem is most on here said NOTHING would be done, so now that there may be changes made it’s not good enough.
Let’s see if Lou agrees to come and what position he takes and how things progress and then we can tell if the change will make a difference or not.

For me I’m tickled pink that if he comes in any copacity The Islanders have a legitimate figure in a management roll for the first time in decades!

I do not see Lou coming on and having any type of power and not at least replacing the coach. i think there will be pressure to at least hire a new coach if Garth is staying around. Last thing Lou, Ledecky, and Malkin want to hear is Lou was brought in and both Garth and Dog stay? I think Lou almost has to replace Doug to show things will be different.
