I'll puke if Rowney gets back in the lineup. He tanks his line and he's done it all season.
I'm all for Sprong too. He's taken a lot of heat about his lack of defensive awareness, but what has Simon and Sheary done defensively? They've sucked. We need goal scoring and I have little faith that Simon and Sheary are going to score at this point. - madmike71
Agree. I just see Sully saying we lost a PK guy in ZAR so we need Rowney. Even if they did that I'd still insert Sprong for Simon.
I find it weird they have a career goon in charge of player safety. People would argue.... "well he was an honest goon". F that. He got paid to beat people up. His job was to hurt people. The NHL's lack of self awareness never ceases to amaze.... - madmike71
Playing devil's advocate I'd say the rationale behind it is, "who better to spot a dirty play than a dirty player."

There is a strong parallel with the UN appointing countries like Cuba, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Syria to its Human Rights Commission in the past .

The reality is it's not working. - Rinosaur
I don't know man... I'll take any player that didn't make a living out of beating people in the head over an ex cement head that never deserved an NHL jersey. Who do you think is more willing to cut Wilson some slack? A bum goon like Parros or a good ex player that's been on the receiving end of hits like that?
I thought from day one the NHL is overtly mocking "player safety" by having Parros in that position and I really can't wait for the day the NHL has to pay a huge sum of money because they don't take the concussion issue seriously. There's going to be a mountain of evidence against them and having an ex goon in charge of player safety will be exhibit A.

Oh, I agree. It's a joke. I was just attempting to look at it from their perspective. I thought Shanny was better.

This!
Don't forget Iran. I think they got a 4 year term. A place where stoning women is legal.

Shanny was the best, but I think the morons at the top of the league felt he was too hard on the offenders. I don't remember the details, but I thought that was the rumor floating around.

I thought he left on his own accord to go work with the Leafs? I honestly don't remember.
Keep seeing this video pop up on Facebook, looks like Crosby is spitting at/on someone from the Capitals. Anyone else see this? - Ftown19125
Philly fans.
You're late mate, about 12 hours late. They were talking about that on the Rags board last night.
Pretty sure the refs that were in 'spitting distance' had a good view of things. Unlike the ref that was right next to ZAR when he had his head taken off by Wilson, he was present & in perfect position only he wasn't watching the 'action', he was getting the (frank) out of there.
>>>Some people will get mad at Barry Trotz and Alexander Ovechkin for their comments calling it a good shoulder to shoulder hit. Their opinion doesn’t matter because it isn’t actually an opinion. It’s a robotic response. The players and coaches are programmed when they hit the NHL to never admit to one of their own doing something out of line. It’s immaterial and quite frankly a waste of time to work up your cortisol levels.<<<
a huge problem..i have seen this many times with Q and the blackhawks: their guy does it = felony on ice and they saw everything; his guy does it = i didn't have a good look or no comment...
teams need to be held accountable for their players actions: heavy fine for the team and they can't replace a suspended player; that is they play with 19 for the time of the suspension...
another huge is the referring...worst in sports refuse to make the clear and obvious head shots and cheap shots; touch a guy on his hands its slashing or a hook; crosscheck a guy multiple times its play. Rinne after the flagrant swing of his stick should get 5 min major or double minor: 2 min unsportsmanlike and 2 min slash
jaws don't break wiith shoulder to shoulder hits...i hope that jerkass is suspended
betman, the owners and the players don't give one poop about player safety with their over top tolerence and acceptance of the mayhem in their league...

The league won't change it though.
Remember the leaked email about liking the violence & the rilvary?
It's here to stay with this administration & owner group. Seriously, if a few owners got together & put pressure on Bettman something might change. If the Players reps wanted to change 'anything' they could. No change means the only ones female doging are the fans. Remember also, a lot of old hockey players are in positions of power meaning those guys played through some pretty heavy poop.

Yeah it's laughable that some people are actually calling a hit that broke a jaw a clean hit hahaha

I mean look, it's hockey, not tennis. I'm not trying to nitpick because I don't think it was a clean hit, but players can get pretty much break anything on a clean play and you can get a broken jaw on a clean hit, but this just wasn't clean.

That's a bit hyperbolic, but I think you misread/misunderstand my post.
EDIT:
The point was a broken jaw isn't a sign something dirty happened, but in this case it was a dirty hit and the result was a broken jaw. A broken jaw can happen from a clean hit.
