Does the writer know that Horvat has already been the de facto #1 centre this past season.
Why the write chose the division with zero of their own draft choices in the lineup, yet is having a pretty successful season and playoff run, is questionable judgement when trying too make a point.

And not having won has affected the Nucks latter round drafting how?

Based on where the Oilers have picked in recent history. They should have 10 years of great prospects; one could argue that they have the worst drafting record of the entire division.

Picking in the top 5 should be a no-brainer and scouting should have been the highest priority for the organization.

People forget that up until 2014 the Canucks still considered themselves a playoff contender and were still in win now mode.

Most of the benefit of sucking is still coming through the development pipeline. With guys like Beaser and Gaudette being the leading edge of that.
