Yup, a suspension was warranted, but he only gets back in the series if it goes to 7 games. Like you said, he hurt his team.

Compare Evander Kane who was suspended only 1 game for a cross-check to the head. Wilson looked like he was targeting the shoulder, but hit the guy's head with his follow-through. There was no question as to Kane's intent.

Wilson left his feet. The guy has always pushed the limits and as much as I want the Caps to beat the Pens, I don't feel bad for him at all. He's a POS.

I agree with you about the Kane cross-check. He clearly targeted the head. The NHL has never been consistent. I wish the players association would step up and help curb these over the line hits.

Agree with Wilson leaving his feet. Again the suspension was totally warranted. I think Kane received 1 game and Wilson received 3 games because Wilson is a repeat offender.

Years ago guys never hit each other in the head or took cheap shots because they would have to answer for it on the ice. The players policed these type of hit themselves.
No room for the cheap intent to injure hits in the game.

Which years was that? Surely, you remember the cheap shots the Leafs took on Jonsson and Peca in that playoff game in 2002. Or are you talking about the 90s? Or the 80s? Or the 70s?

I respectfully disagree, 7. Cheap shots have been around as long as there's been hockey. It's true that the players used to police it more in the old days, but that mostly led to more fighting and brawling. Not that there's anything wrong with that.... I miss the days of the bench-clearing brawls.

Stevens hit so hard, he didn't even have to target the head to leave the guy with a concussion. There were lots of guys who played dirty. Claude Lemieux was one of the worst.

He hit Lindros in the head in that P.O. game and every hit thrown now, he targeted the head. Not agreeing with that. Honestly the guy hit people hard and didn’t target the head. That’s just my opinion.
In the good old days guys didn’t wear helmets or visor and they kept their sticks down.
Just a different player respect. Of course there always is the ass like Hunter, Tucker, Sanderson etc. who were scumbags but it just seems like there is less respect for each other these days. Nothing a good ass kicking would change. Again just my opinion.

Eat a Richard he put his shoulder into people's heads many times. If he did that in today's game he would be suspended a lot. He wasn't dirty persay but his should was the principle point of contact to many a players head

The rule against targeting the head is a relatively new one, I believe. I don't think it existed back in the day.....

Agree that there seems to be less respect these days. I question whether letting the players act as enforcers would change that though.....

Called differently back then. Everyone of Potvins hip checks would have been penalized today.

You ever get your ass kicked because you said or did something stupid?

Afterwards you thought a little bit before you would do or say it again. Some guys need more than others before they learn.

That went from making a career of targeting the head to borderline quickly

Btw there probably wasn’t a penalty called on any of them

Look I’m done with this because it’s totally objective and also the game has totally changed over the years and the hits have changed as a result. As far as concussions I am happy for that.

Again Potvins or Kaspers hip checks would be penalized today.

Suck a Richard

Would love for McPhee to win a cup. L and M had him in the organization, I mean he learned it all from Snow

Well what do you want me to do go in the NHL video archive and search for all his hits? Point is today they are penalties and back then concusions weren't really known. Richard eater

This is older but it doesn't look like a claymation reenactment.
