Bode Wilde is not worth passing a top forward
- VANTEL

Bode Wild not a top 10 pick imo. Either is Smith.

Dobson and Bouchard both have top pairing potential. So does Boqvist. I think Hughes has the potential skill set to be a #1, but his size may keep him as either a #3 or #2.
I would take Dobson over Wahlstrom or that other guy, but I think Tkachuk over them.

- Retinalz

Hughes: 5'10" and a 174 @ 18 yo. If that is his limiting factor... then there is not much of a problem.

I have Wilde at 14, Hughes somewhere after that.
The more i see Of Wahlstrohm and Kotkaniemi, the more impressed I am...but still say Dobson or Bouchard at this moment.
I wouldnt be surprised to see Tkachuk or Zadina, maybe both, fall quite a bit.

Wahlstrom will score 30 plus every year. That is hard to say no to. His shot is better than Brocks

Many of thought that about Shinkaruk as well.
He has looked impressive though.

A perimeter player maybe at best complimentary vs a true goal scorer

Yeah but everything in Vegas is deep fried and covered in glitter to make it look better.

I don’t know where you eat when you go there but some of the best meals I ever had were in Vegas.

he would solidify our future top 6. But will he be better for our team than Dobson? We could draft Wahly, trade Tanev for picks and focus on D and then throw some money at Carlson.

That's why I would consider a trade down for a forward if they are taking Wahlstrom at 7. I'm looking for a little more diversity in our forward core and think a couple of other forwards would be of equal value but offering more size. Benning takes D unless Tkachuk is available. I really don't think that's happening though.

I like Dobson but I am not sure he will be a dominant D man . I think he will be like a young Edler not a Pietroangelo. He is a good safe pick not a Top 2

I like how he makes his own openings on the ice and appears too be in the right position in all 3 zones.
At one time Wahlstrohm Veleno and Hayton all appeared to be very similar players, this kid has pulled away from them somewhat.

He's really fast too.

There were some late fast risers... players who where highly touted when they were younger as well. Veleno is one. He is quite the package abd could be grabbed outside the top 10.

Defense. Not only are there some beauties available at 7... we are pretty desperate. I don't want to be the Maple Lefties.

No, but most of us in Canuckland thought he would be a 30 goal guy.
Wahlstrom can actually skate, Shink not so much.

How far do you trade down?
Would our 1st and 2nd for NYI's 2 1sts , 11th and 12th, be fair?

I disagree. He skates way better than Edler. His shot from the point is better than Edlers. His wrister is excellent, better than Edler's. His defense is very solid(to be determined if better than Edler) but I think he has better defensive potential personally. Just seems to have higher IQ. He QB's the PP... Edler is on the oppositions PK.

Edler plays more physical. Was probably stronger at Dobson's age most likely. Dobson has good size to work with though. With conditioning he could be one hell of a strong player. That's wide open for improvement.

Just skating alone sets him apart from Edler. Dobson covers ice effortlessly. Edler wears rubber boots with blades on(Ukrainian skates).
