ROR to the Isles for Bellows and one of their first rounders this year. At pick 11 you can take another winger or RHD man that will be on this team by the 2019-2020 season.

Girgs is perfectly fine. He fills a bottom 6 role if we are good and his contract matches his role.

Keep him out of the top 6 and he can retire with the Sabres.

Our “future” Captain

Averaging 7 goals a year for the past 3

And i got sh!t bc i said he’d max out as a 3rd line defensive center

and never have a 20 goal season

Girgensons is exactly why u don’t trade good players for mid1st (or later) round picks

Too many turn out to just be ok NHLers

If Dahlin is as good as projected, I feel like he could paid with a lesser dman with no drastic effect on the team.
I think Nelson could be that guy, seems to play a solid defensive game, solid positionally, could be the guy that hangs back while Dahlin does his thing on offence.
Just a thought

- Sabres1523

I was saying the other day that Borgen might be able to be that guy
He’ll at least start in Rochester next year
Idk when he’d be ready for big minutes against top talent though?

Girgs has decent speed, a little scoring ability, and can play physical
We’ve all seen him be decent
We just haven’t seen him he consistent
Probably not since Nolan anyways

If it comes down to him vs Larsson on who to ship out,
i wonder if we’d keep Girgs bc of his speed
Even though Larsson has been better at Center
At some point,
they’re likely both pushed out by younger talent coming up

just for poops and giggles some stats:

Girgensons averaged 18.7 shifts per game and scored seven goals...here's a list of playoff teams with the number of players on them who've skated less than an average of 19 shifts/game and have scored seven or more goals:

PIT-0
LAK-0
TOR-1
SJS-1
TBL-2
WPG-2
PHI-2
NSH-2
CBJ-2
ANA-3
COL-3
BOS-4
NJD-4
VGK-4
WSH-4
MIN-5

bolded teams are still in the playoffs

not sure of the reason for the hate

Bc ppl had unreasonable expectations for him

Remember when ppl kept saying he’d be our future Captain?

I was just hoping he’d be our future Gaustad

The only way I would be signing Carlson is if they could move O'Reilly and one of Risto, Bogo, Okposo.

Preferably Bogo unless he goes on LTIR

Signing Carlson for the money he is going to get is scary looking long term with the money it will take to re-sign Mittelstadt and Dahlin, not to mention Reinhart.

Go to CapFriendly.com and make a team with what u think their salaries will be in a few years

I don't know if it was necessarily an expectation. He was on an awesome trajectory and everything seemed like he was going to be excellent. It just did not work out.

Scott Cullen's offseason gameplan for the Sabres.

****Warning**** He also thinks we should trade O'Reilly

Has us getting Robbi Fabbri, Klim Kostin and Carter Hutton, and adding Conor Sheary.

He had one “good” season with us,
(his 2nd i think?)

But ppl were all about him since the moment he was drafted
Saying crap like he could be our future Captain

He had no history of being a “goal scorer”
Was just ok at it

That summer he was drafted was when rumors about ROR wanting out of Colorado were happening

I got ripped for saying we should trade Girgs for him,
“Bc Girgs will never be a 20 goal scorer & will top out as a defensive 3C”

But no, everyone said he was gonna be our 2C behind Grigorenko for the next 10+ years

¶ ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) _ A person with direct knowledge of the decision tells The Associated Press that Buffalo Bills and Sabres president Russ Brandon is leaving his post in a major shake-up made by the teams' owners, Terry and Kim Pegula.

Ah gotcha, I haven't been following the latest with you guys

But the fact remains:

Going into the 2021-2022 season you'll have

Eichel $10 million
ROR $7.5 million (second last year)
Risto $5.4 million (last year)
Mittelstadt on year 2 of a new contract probably around $7 million
Dahlin going into his 1st year of his new contact around $8 million (hopefully if he is playing to potential)
Okposo $6 million (second last year)

$43.9 million on 6 players

That doesn't account whatever Reinhart's next deal is my guess at that time he is around $5.5 million

So almost $50 million tied up to 7 players

With no goalies

Even if the cap is at $90 million

$40 million to spread out to 2 goalies, 5 defensemen, and 9 forwards

16 players so an average of $2.5 million per player

You have to assume your starting goalies is around $6 million by then and his backup $1.5

$7.5 million

$32.5 million to sign 5 defensemen and 9 forwards

Typical 2nd pairing blue liners are making $3-$4 million say so there's another $7 million but if the cap is at $90 million that number is more like $5million-$6 million. Who knows how Guhle projects?

Bottom pairing guys can be guys making $1.5-$2 million but take into cap inflation you're at $2-$3 million per guy

So you're looking at $18 million for your forwards which you have 9 to sign

Okposo is playing on the 3rd line at this point so you need a top 6 winger which is $5 million at least

$13 million for 8 guys. Sure somewhere in your lineup you'll have guys on their ELC to save you so if you have 2 or 3 guys at $1 million each you're at $10 million for 5 guys. $2 million per player to fill out the rest of your lineup.

But you know there will be mistakes made with contracts, what if Dahlin is a Norris Winnner he is getting $10 million easily. What if Mittelstadt is a stud like we hope, he is getting $8 million.

You have to remember, if the cap goes up, salaries go up.

The cap will be a huge problem going forward because of guys like Okposo and ROR.

Sbroads is right, the time to move him is now.

- Stripes77

If the S.J pick remains a 2nd move it as payment for someone to take Okposo. Okposo isn't trash yet, he can still play, but no one is taking the term, we'll have to pay for that.

Russ Brandon has resigned as managing partner and president of the Pegula sports empire.

Kim Pegula has taken over as president.

The move comes after Pegula Sports and Entertainment conducted an internal investigation into Brandon's workplace behavior and allegations of personal misconduct, two sources told The Buffalo News.

As the top executive under Terry and Kim Pegula, Brandon ran the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bandits and Rochester Americans. He also was the alternate governor to Terry Pegula for the Sabres and Americans.

Brandon confirmed his resignation to The Buffalo News late Tuesday afternoon.

Black left under a shroud of mystery. It's so strange that a guy who like two years ago took over business management for both teams.

I wonder if this has to do with the extremely poor fan experience for the Sabres and a much lesser extent, the Bills. Maybe even funding ventures. There's some teams out there that do such a better job marketing their product than the Buffalo teams.

I remember the playoffs for the Sabres and Bills like a favorite store that went out of business or a food that went out of production. Fond memories, but you know it's most likely never coming back.

Surge!

But they actually brought that back. It even tastes pretty much the same.
