Clean hit and a goal. Love it.

Let's face it, Wilson is one of the bigger hitters left in the game and you had better know when he is on the ice.

Back pressure distracts the puck carrier and Wilson steps up and delivers the boom. Looks like a set play. Reminds me, although the set up was different, of the play Rafalski and Stevens used to run for the Devils, giving the puck carriers the middle and then Stevens freight trained them, Lindros being the most famous victim but there were others.

absolute domination by the first line and he goes his best to piss all over it. spikes it into letangs skates the first time, then blindly whips it into a capital to send it the other way.

maybe a little tripping but whatever its not gonna be called as times basically expiring. just isnt. dont turn the puck over and you arent in that position.

The NBCSN crew casually said the post game interview between McGuire and Ovie had to be conducted in the tunnel due to debris being thrown from the stands. How charming.

how disgusting that a couple of Flyers fans would go to that game just to wait until the end and throw things onto the ice

The nerve of some Flyers fans whenever and wherever that happens. Don’t they know that all us will get blamed for the actions of a few!?

Lots of whining about Wilson on the Pens blog. Not surprising. Probably another "Caps and Refs Beat the Pens" post coming. But I'm curious, after watching the hit a few times, what people think Wilson could have done different? Did they see Reese bracing for the hit as well? Did they see how low Reese was? I'm curious, with hockey being the contact sport it is, what else Wilson could have done except not gone for the hit at all, just let the guy skate on by...

But a broken jaw, (frank), that's gotta suck.

refs didnt cost them that game at all. a terrible night by murray, way too many players playing passenger to crosby/guentzel, horrible pinching by the defense all night, and maatta impregnating both his mother and sister on the same shift to close out the game.

the wilson hit. i dont know man. it comes down to league mentality. was it the most predatory hit circa shea weber on zetterberg a few years back? no. but its a shot to the head. can argue unavoidable i guess, but bottom line if the league is truly serious about removing headshots, then this is what needs to go. if we're just going to go well its a contact sport and these things happen, then fine, but then the lip service about safety and attempting to remove shots to the head from the game needs to stop. it didnt cost them the game though. if youre letting a scrub like that unravel you due to hits then you dont deserve the cup anyway. frustrating game but you just have to buckle down and move on to the next one.

I hear you. I like big hits, one of the qualities that separates hockey and hockey players from other sports, but I don't want anyone getting hurt, especially not a long term head injury. It's a tough call. Part of the problem with the hit lies with Aston-Reese's lack of awareness and crouched position. Maybe Wilson could have eased up? Easy to say watching slow motion. Also, with ZAR carrying the puck, nobody is going to let him skate by free and clear, that would be nuts. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if Wilson got a game and the league told him to take it down a notch. Nobody wants hockey players ending up in hospital beds.

Wilson left his feet. The head was the principle point of contact.

I don't see how he doesn't get suspended.
