By my count they have 40 players signed but 4 of them can slide (Frost, Ratcliffe, Sushko and Strome). they have 8 RFAs (Hagg, Leier, Goulbourne, Lyon, Martel, Morin, Stolarz and Wilcox). not sure what happens to Fazleev's contract if he goes to the KHL. Assuming its a mutual termination?

Being Allison and Laczynski are going back to school and it doesn't appear they are signing Kase yet (or at all) they should be fine with the contract spots.

Doesn't sound like Allison has decided, but I suspect he will return to WMU. I am hoping he goes to Allentown though. I would imagine Fazleev moves to the reserve list, which doesn't count towards the 50 SPC's, but does count to the 90 player reserve limit.

They have another year to sign Kase. I believe he got hurt at the end of this season, otherwise would be playing at Worlds

if i'm Montreal i'd rather draft Zadina at 3rd overall and have him on an ELC for at least the next 3 years

Detroit desperately needs defense but that whole roster is ugly. Still, can't really see them having a ton of interest in another vet signed to a long term, big money contract.

Yeah -- I tend to agree, as well. I don't think Hexy will put a young player in the NHL with stipulations. If Frost is going to make the NHL next season, it's because they deem him totally ready for the NHL.

To give other, likely more capable players in the system a chance at a spot on the team.

There's that.

And there's also saving one million, six hundred and sixty six thousand, six hundred and sixty six dollars and sixty seven cents.

That's not the full picture. The following year it costs you $1,666,667

I don't think Weise would agree to a termination. Now, if you demote him, he may just agree to fail to report.

I have no problem with keeping Leier, just that I think he's an AHL player at this point.

funny thing, if they waive Weise, I dont think he will make the starting lineup for LHV

The Flyers would save 1,666,667 US dollars by buying out Lehtera.

Goulbourne was a starter for the Phantoms and Weise is better than him.

I don't know why people entertain these fantasies of players not reporting and giving up millions in guaranteed money just because they were demoted.

I don't care how much actual dollars they save. Doesn't concern me as a fan. There is a full picture to look at with any buyout as far as the cap is concerned.

I don't care, either. But we were talking about reasons why the Flyers organization might consider buying out Lehtera, and saving $1.67m in salary is part of the picture for them.

I get this is a fantasy right now but shouldn't we switch Travis and Morgan.

Travis best stretch of play was as a RW and Morgan has a head for the game like Giroux so wouldn't he better better on the offside where he can open his stick up and create....like claude pulled off this year?

We need to get the kid on a bus and across the 49th parallel before the borders are closed and you worrying about what wing he'll be playin'.
