The fact that he exerted so much upward force that he propelled himself onto his own bench makes it seems pretty predatory to me. I agree that injury should not be a factor in discipline, but I think Wilson knew exactly what he was doing (intent to injure, not hurt).
Just my opinion, which happens to always be the right one. - jmatchett383
I think he was off balance from lifting his right skate. I think the Dumoulin hit was worse and actually targeted the head.

Personally, I think he misses the shoulder and hits the head. I know most disagree with me here and think the primary impact was the shoulder. But the other player hits Wilson in the chest and if there is any shoulder contact it's only fleeting. Yes, yes his skates were on the ice, but he was pushing upwards making it more likely to target the head. Predatory is a pretty good word for it. You guys would be peeved if one of ours went down this way.
I can't stand Penguins crying but in this case I think it's justified.

Definitely predatory. Wilson has a history of predatory hits so that will not not work in his favor.

I would be peeved for sure. I wouldn't think he should be suspended though. I think there are more predatory hits that have worse intent. The result of the hit and whether or not a guy gets injured isn't as big to me. Most guys that can see him coming like that and brace for that hit don't end up with a broken jaw.
If they don't want contact in the sport then its a bad hit....It's a punishing hit that used to happen 10 times in every NHL game. I thought it was as clean as an open ice hit can be. His feet never left ice until the contact. Its a fast game fella's. To dissect this hit at that speed is disingenuous. It's hockey not soccer.

I usually agree w BiggE on most things hockey, but not this time. I though it was a clean hit. He seemed to crouch down to avoid the principal point of contact being the guys head. If they take out hits like that, they may as well wear dresses. They’ve pretty much taken the fighting out of it, which is why we have so many cheap shots. They can’t make it any more non-contact or risk losing a huge part of their fan base.
