Sooooooooo....

You can't rattle the Pens anymore. They changed under Sullivan.

- dragonoffrost

funny I heard that in the first round from all the experts..."no use in getting physical with the pens because that doesn't work" lol. It works in every (frank)ing hockey game ever played or ever will be played. No one likes to get hit. No one focus's solely on pretty plays and scoring when they know the other team is coming after you. Yes, you can't win a series by making the other team always pay as price, but you don't win unless you do. The caps can't let up or they'll meet the same fate as last time.

Carlson will be one of the top free agents available and is a point producing defenseman who can play in all situations. I think you need to raise your figures.

Ok, even a 7 million a year figure would be worth it in my eyes which looks to be around the max that Hedman signed for.

I try 7x7 and try to get Provy for the same deal. Add in Ghost's current deal and we should be fine with money for the rest as long as the cap continues to rise over the life of those deals.

You'd have to ask them why. I don't think the Flyers should go after either player.
- MJL

I think it could work more so for Carlson but it’s not like I wanna get in a bidding war bc he will be heavily sought this offseason. Having said that, if you move Gudas, maybe move Simmonds too (I’m in the boat saying don’t resign him), stick to not signing our UFAs, I think it’s doable. AMac is off the books in 2 years too. cap will go up too in those years.

I kinda have to agree. Not a fan of this hit.

I'm not either. I don't think it was illegal per the rule book, but it was definitely predatory.

Not how I saw that at all, actually.

I know a player can leave their skates after principle contact....this really looks like he leaves his skates before he makes contact. I think that's no bueno.

- johndewar

Late to the party this morning, but his skates were on the ice when contact occurred and then went off the ice par the course of most hits. Primary point of contact is shoulder on shoulder.

I hate Tom Wilson, but to me that's a clean hit. Unfortunate that ZAR got hurt on the play since the jaw got hit too, but letter of the law to me makes it clean and no suspension. Hate the player, but I can't scold him here.

I think he's having a hearing more for the predatory nature of the hit (intent to injure) as opposed to a charge/etc.

Now that I'm okay with. Even though I think this hit was okay in terms of it's legality, his history doesn't earn him the benefit of the doubt and he needs to chill with seeking out dangerous hits. Clean, big hits fine. Open ice hits that lead to contact with the head even when the primary point is the shoulder ehhh

Exactly. The league is essentially saying, "Dude, stop trying to (frank)ing kill people." I hope they use that exact term.

ZAR saw him coming the whole way...still not sure how he took it to the face so hard. I don't think that was as predatory as it is being made out to be, but I think Wilson could've made it a real clean body check if he really wanted to. I would expect disciple due to injury, though I still think that is a dumb standard.

The fact that he exerted so much upward force that he propelled himself onto his own bench makes it seems pretty predatory to me. I agree that injury should not be a factor in discipline, but I think Wilson knew exactly what he was doing (intent to injure, not hurt).

Just my opinion, which happens to always be the right one.

Yeah but Wilson knew what he was doing. Was clearly a hit that he typically does, forget the word, starts with a p?
