Ristolainen gets points on the powerplay

Everyone criticizes.

Ignore the fact that Ovechkin would have never even hit 50 goals in a season without the PP.

- BeadyEyedDouche

Ovechkin is one of the best 5 on 5 goal scorers in the league.

Most great 5 on 5 goal scorers are also great PP goal scorers.

We need 3 top 6 wingers, including 2 top line. RoR's about to transition into our defensive center, and his replacement (Asplund) is very close to NHL ready. There's only a few pieces of value that we can trade. The timing seems right to me, and JB does not sound like a guy bringing this group back largely intact.

It’s frankly amazing how the Bergeron line simply shuts down lines that include Matthews, Stankos and Kucherov, and score goals too.

Maybe the best line in the last decade

i know, just if he goes, trading it for futures seems like a waste of some ELCs

I think it’s an opportunity to add a 5th or 6th member of the 22 and under core that we could have 10+ years with

Eichel
Dahlin (I’m still in shock)
Reinhart
Mittelstadt
Guhle
Top 10 pick

I think it's either a top 10 pick or (more likely) a young NHL (or NHL-ready) winger+

Or keep him, dump salary in the form of Okposo, Bogo, Moulson, pommer, and use picks to acquire a winger, and keep our existing good players - Risto, ror and Reinhart.

I just can’t see it. Botterill is hammering the need for speed and intensity improvement in every interview possible.

Whether it’s O’Reilly, Sam or Risto, one of them will be gone IMO.

- sbroads24

Well Botterill named Sam and Ristolainen by name today in his interview with WGR as part of the core going forward. So ........l

I already said if we can deal Ryan O'Reilly to St Louis for Jaden Schwartz,Barbashev or a 1st ( you have to look at the centers of that team they have zero besides one

Or move him to Vancouver for a first and Tanev

- gerbe75pts

Wow why would Vancouver do this??? The #7 pick is worth more then O’Reilly this year, let alone adding a top 4 defenseman in Tanev.

What would those salary dumps do, if you could even pull them off? It doesn't make sense to go on a UFA shopping spree.

This seems like a tall order. How are we getting those theee off the books?

I have no urge to move all 3. I just can’t imagine all three are back.

Yeah. I think it just makes way too much sense to move 90 now, and get ready to contend two years from now.

Of any of the three, 90 is the one who’s replacement is already on the roster

Not McDavid. A whopping 5 PPG last year and 11 for his entire career. Kinda throws a wrench in the "everyone's good on the PP" thing, eh?
