What big time centers did Colorado have to get to replace O’Reilly ?

Carl Soderberg and JT Compher.

Can we call Stastny a comparable to ROR? Why would they trade Stastny then trade for ROR?

Benning seems like a moron, maybe they can swindle vancouver. that'd be good.

Stastny was a free agent ...

Blues center depth
1- Schenn
2 Brodziak
3.Sobotka
4. Barbashev

Just think this team is going to be after Tavares if they miss out they are going to overpay for Ryan O'Reilly

I think Botterill will listen to offers on ROR. Being an alternate captain for Canada will raise his value. That said, I think there's a 75% chance he's back. It wouldn't shock me if he, Reinhart and Risto were all back. There are gonna be a ton of new faces without making any "big" moves. Some better wingers and better D play will help RORs 5-on-5, and he's already going to get a boost on PP1 - Dahlin, Risto, ror, Eichel and Reinhart. It wouldn't shock me if we got back to a top-5 or 10 PP this year. Let the kids develop in a lesser role, and reevaluate next year if they miss the playoffs again.

ROR is good for 20+35/40. He'll do it again and theres no rush to move him

I just can’t see it. Botterill is hammering the need for speed and intensity improvement in every interview possible.

Whether it’s O’Reilly, Sam or Risto, one of them will be gone IMO.

But no top 6 wingers, and now no draft pick for a top 6 winger....they have to get Jack at least 1 real winger. Getting Dahlin should make a trade easier.

The idea of bringing this core back intact drives me insane.

Maybe so. Or maybe Okposo is the "core" piece that gets moved. He's the most likely one to move, too, based on Botterill's comments. He's literally never mentioned. We'll find out in 2 short months. In the meantime, we can all enjoy the the Dahlin daydreams

If Okposo could bring back as asset, sure.

I don’t think he’s just moving guys to move them.

He’s trying to get players best suited for a north south style.

O’Reilly doesn’t fit that, neither does 23.

Difference is, one is 22, the other is 27 and making huge $.

Maybe San Jose re-signs Kane and we trade their first plus 32 to a team ready to rebuild for an impact winger. There are many ways to build this without getting rid of reinhaart, ror or Risto

the core is about to transform into highly paid secondary pieces which can work while the new "core" is on their ELC which is why moving them for futures doesnt make any sense to me

I just feel this is blatantly ignoring one of the big reasons changes are needed.

These players do not gel, nor play the type of game the GM and coach want

Ristolainen gets points on the powerplay

Everyone criticizes.

Ignore the fact that Ovechkin would have never even hit 50 goals in a season without the PP.

We’re keeping everyone, bringing Ruff back and using Dahlin the same way they used Ruff (the player).

Top 5 pp

There's absolutely no rush to move Risto. He benefits from Dahlin more than maybe any other player. ROR will continue to score like he always does, and he has the secondary attributes - no penalties, faceoffs, plays all 3 phases. The sabres need to be patient. Take the right deal if it comes along, but don't rush this thing. Leet it comes together. This weekend was enormous

We need 3 top 6 wingers, including 2 top line. RoR's about to transition into our defensive center, and his replacement (Asplund) is very close to NHL ready. There's only a few pieces of value that we can trade. The timing seems right to me, and JB does not sound like a guy bringing this group back largely intact.

i am absolutely on board with trading them for 90-95 cents on the dollar for other NHL players
