"Then in the seventh round, the Bills selected receiver Austin Proehl with the 255th overall pick. Proehl is the son of former NFL wide receiver Ricky Proehl.

The 21-year-old receiver from North Carolina spent four seasons playing with the Tar Heels, accounting for 1,265 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 38 games played.

Proehl said during his conference call that he ran a 4.41 forty-time at his regional combine. He played both slot and outside receiver in college, but with his shorter height, he could be in line for more of an inside role in the NFL."

No. They need to add to the blueline. This lottery win should allow Risto to be a 2nd pairing defemensemen in a year.

Botts needs one more on top of Dahlin, Risto, Guhle, McCabe and Scandella

Borgen.. he might turn into a really good player.

the number #9 jersey can only have it's name changed one more time before you are stuck with it as the vendors at the arena now have a phobia for the number 9

Why would we trade Ristolainen?

If we must do it, getting in the top-5 starts with RISTO AND ROR. Montreal are (frank)ed with that Carey Price contract...

They are trading Pacioretty, they have Galchenyuck and adding Ristolainen with ROR would bump them back up to the bubble for the next few years.

Drafting at #3 will not.

I don't think it's crazy to offer them Ristolainen and ROR for the #3. That's what gets it done.

Then flip Sam to Arizona with next year's 1st for OEL. That's what we need to do, if those trades aren't in the cards, we stand pat.

Then get a new coach.

They need to build around Eichel, Dahlin, Risto, Guhle and Casey right now.

If the reports are true of the locker room being a mess and guys doing there own thing, winning the lottery puts more pressure on JB to make a trade soon.

Dahlin, unlike some others will be a Sabre from day 1. They won’t want him in the toxic environment

i think its a win win, risto is tradeable now but they shouldnt be looking to trade him if that makes sense.

the defense was putrid but they also had nobody who could score goals, the defense just improved 10fold, but if risto was moved for a scorer, they'd both improve 5fold and maybe thats better overall

- robz228

I guess I should clarify, he can be moved, but you better be raping someone in a trade if he is.

you can pay 2 d men, 3 when not paying a goalie

jack is the upper contract up front

if dahlin and casey become super stars, cross that bridge with ror when the time comes

right now the focus should be moving on from okposo, moulson and bogo
and signing asplund
nothing more, nothing less

- homiedclown

Yes, yes and yes. If Botts can get us out of 2 of the above contracts by the fall and sign Asplund, I will be very happy. Also, enough of the silly talk about trading Risto. Let's get rid of our best RD by far. Can you imagine a tandem of Dahlin and Risto for the next 10-years?

I posted yesterday that I hope the Dahlin selection doesn't make Botts do crazy GMTM things like speed up the rebuild. I think Botts is level headed and knows the importance of the long game. The Sabres fan base now actually has some hope for the future with Jack, Casey, Dahlin and Risto in the fold. Throw in young guys like Rhino, Guhle, Ulmark and EROD and I think the fans can see there is a bright future - if Botts doesn't do crazy short-term stuff. Personally speaking, i would be happy with a 25 point increase next year which will set them up nicely for a sustained playoff appearances the following year.

Having said all of the above, I do think that ROR is a dead-man walking on the Sabres. Regardless of his season ending commentary, the fact is that the Sabres can't afford to have his $7.5 million contract on the books for much longer. That's way too much for a 3rd line center who will be entering the downside of his career once this team is ready to compete. I do think he could bring us in a good haul because he has a great reputation around the league. Whether it's this year or next year, I am sure ROR's days are numbered in the 716 area.
