Sharks and Blues have been mentioned frequently.

Frankly, I wouldn't rule out the Sabres either now that they're getting Dahlin. They could probably afford to jettison someone like Scandella and his $4M cap hit with Dahlin coming into the fold. I think there would be plenty of interest in Scandella, maybe even from the Islanders. It's possible that if Tavares and Buffalo were both interested in a sign-and-trade to add the 8th year, Scandella could be a piece coming back the other way.

I can seer Buffalo more than the Leafs. Just do not think JT is going to want all that attention. The first time JT does not get back on D or he plays the entire OT, he will have more than 3 reporters asking him what happened?

Buffalo is essentially, geographically-speaking, home for Tavares. They're going to have two top-flight players in Eichel and Dahlin. His buddy Okposo plays there. I see a lot of things that could potentially be attractive to him about playing for the Sabres.

Or, for all I know, he could view them as hopeless and too far away from competing for a championship. It could go either way, in my eyes.

Leafs having all that crazy attention not to mention the work needed to fit JT in and Matthews being the man make it difficult to see JT going there. Leafs need to focus on D and JT does not help that. Teams like Vegas and the Sharks and Blues are better fits IMO.

We really have no idea what JT is looking for.

Well, we know he wants to play for someone he views as able to compete for a Stanley Cup...otherwise nobody would be worried about him leaving the Islanders.

What we don't know is how patient he's willing to be. ie: go to a team who's a contender right now vs. a team that might be 2-3 years away from seriously contending.

I don't think we know what his primary motivation is. Everyone wants to win the cup. The question is does he take less money to go to a contender. Another question is that 8th year important to him to make a sign and trade possible. For all we know he really does have faith that Snow will build a Cup team (as stupid as that may be).

Sabres? No way. Agree on the Leafs and JT going crazy having to talk to media.

I don’t see Tavares going to the leafs or any Canadian team for that matter. The dollar differential alone is reason to not sign there. I think we can hear all the “i wanna win” line and that might hold some small weight but the bottom line is always the money. Stamkos I’m sure got offered the world but chose the lightening ultimately because the dollar differential and the no income tax. That’s real money. Tavares to the hometown leafs sounds like a great story but i don’t see that happening. I believe 91 has a handshake deal where he’s gonna see what offers he gets and the isles will Match it and give him the full 8 years.

I hope your right saying it’s only money that matters with JT as the Islanders do have the advantage there with the eighth year make no mistake about that.
However I do think JTs decision is about compensation, winning, And where he wants to live/ bring up a family etc.
Hopefully that’s the Island.

Connor was a late first?

17th overall, one behind Barzal. Both quality first liners with two years left on the entry level contracts. So hopefully you guys strike again with some mid 1st rounders.

Meh the reporters don’t bother JT imho. He’s been dealing with press since he was in the Jrs at the age of 14. It’s the reason why he constantly gives non emotional standard answers. He was taught at an early age.
Who ever gets JT Ses (hoping he stays)will appreciate his 80 plus points and every thing else he brings on and off the ice.
If he’s on a better team/organization he won’t have to try and win a game in OT on his own.

I still think JT would not like all the attention and pressure that comes with playing with the Leafs. I’m surprised the fans do not want Shanny and Lou gone already.

Isles have Barzal now and JT does not have Boyes type wingers anymore so he does not have to do everything. I get the D is a mess and coaching has to be better. Between JT and the GM and coach, we really need to get these things wrapped up. This waiting is the worst.

I continue to stand by the idea that JT stays and will retire here. That said, I have been saying for a while watch out for Vegas, they can sign him using the expiring contracts of these vital pieces they will let go
1. Jason Garrison 3,575,000
2. Clayton Stoner 3,250,000
and wait for it
3. Mikhail Grabovski 5,000,000
here is your 11,000,000 sir and welcome aboard they stay at the exact same cap number they are at now, and can use the 7.2 of room under the cap plus, the 4.7 left from casting off Reaves and Spisa and higher cap next year to bring back their RFA's.
Please tell me I'm wrong, cause I see them coming up short and being aggressive to fix it.

You could be right. However the Knights are built around speed. I'm not sure JT fits the way they want to play.

I was thinking the same regarding JT and speed. I can see JT having more interest in Vegas than they have in JT.

I’ll take Uncle Lou or Dean thank you

JT isn’t going to make his decision based on the reporters that are covering the game or the number of them. That for me doesn’t hold water Ses.
I don’t mind waiting as long as L and M get this decision right.

I also would pick Lou over Dean. I do not think JT would be scared off with the number of reports, but I do not think JT has this big desire to play for the Leafs. I could be wrong and he ends up going there.

Someone will be hired, count on it. Problem is this is the Islanders and you have to wait until you have someone before you announce it or fire anyone.

As sure as Arsenal will have a new manager next year did you ever think that would happen?

I think with some of the names that might be available it will be very tough for Ledecky to bring the same people back.

If they don’t do something Ses, then they deserve all the negativity they get.
