You guys think if you get the second overall pick you'll trade it for defenseman?

We’ll keep it I’m sure. Nobody is gonna give us a good player for it, we need the ELC and the exemption from the Seattle expansion draft.

Maybe. There is no fix though, otherwise we wouldn’t have won McDavid. Honestly I think they should scrap the lottery. The worst should get 1st.
Mind you I do say that AFTER we won it twice and never got bounced from 1st.

Haters or just media looking for some sort of story. How would you feel about things you did at 15 were posted and you were judged based on them ?
- cabin

Thank goodness social media didn't exist when I was 15, let alone when I was 25. Guaranteed that all of us did and said stuff in our teens and early 20's that could embarrass us today if it came out.

I saw a quote that made me laugh the other day

It was about what someone wrote in his class of 1990 year book could come back to haunt him

Actually they found out that he deleted all that stuff in January of last year someone screenshot it and a team released it a day before the draft
- gerbe75pts

Not all of it. There were a lot that weren't that were only deleted after the fact.

People on twitter and social media have been going crazy about it, nobody important obviously but there are people out there who thinks he is racist. That is what is wrong with this country.
- Stripes77

The identity politics have gotten out of control.

You're gay? NO ONE CARES.

You're black? NO ONE CARES.

You're a trans-person? NO ONE CARES.

And if they do, YOU SHOULDN'T CARE.

We're all AMERICANS and guess what, America has a problem with AMERICANS right now who don't know how to (frank)ing act. It's insane.

Seems more of a yell louder and be heard regardless . He was drafted as a QB. not a social evangelist that was based at the age of 14-15. Media is reaching as usual for shock and awe.
- cabin

Even there it's been pretty subdued. It gets mentioned obviously, but it was mostly, "he's going to need to address it in the room". I didn't see one person, on ESPN, anyway say that he should even drop in the draft because of it, but that it does need to be addressed.

It's all narcissism. Everyone thinks they're special and everyone cares about them and what they did that day and what they ate and who they like to (frank). Social media is awful. It brings out the worst in people and then makes it normal.

I don't think it does. The veteran players and analysts who say it does are out of touch and don't understand, nor do they want to understand, the younger generation.

That's a human affliction throughout our history. I'm old, therefor, I'm always right in my wisdom. But wisdom is about experience, not age. I've met some children who are wiser than adults. Deductive reasoning can go a long way to making sense of things.

I guess I can't blame a bunch of meat-head athletes who weren't trained to think critically and question structure, lest it compromise their careers.

Dude, you said it. But it's not even social media.

JCrumple today tried to make my take on the Josh Allen situation about himself because I generalized mellennials, and this is an archaic forum.

I would say I can't imagine how these people act in real life, but I already know how they do.

I even have a friend who's about 22/23 and I can't say anything critical or self-reflective without him exasperating "NOT MEEE!!" or "I'M NOT LIKE THAT!!!". It's like, dude, it wasn't and isn't about you, damn. Not everything is about YOU.

I listened to that Taylor Swift song, Trouble or whatever it is, and she says "me" or "I" no joke like 67 times in the song, and her "fans" are all teenage girls with vulnerable minds... And it's not like teenage boys have better role models, either.

Thanks, Obama.

I guess I should rephrase, social media is awful when used in place of human to human interaction. I'll even throw texting in there. Texting is great for short "I'm running late" or "get milk on the way home" stuff, but not for entire conversations. Social can be an incredible platform for business, music and for change, it allows people to short circuit the system that's designed to only allow the chosen few who know someone, or have a large bank balance in, it's the day-to-day mindless drivel that is awful.

One guy I saw on Twitter that had stuff had "this tweet has been deleted" or whatever it says for a few of them which means they were deleted after the guy put them up.

It is unfortunately, how people get to know each other these days. Then they meet up in person and it basically boils down to "Nice shoes, want to bang?" and then they get emotionally distraught when that doesn't work out.

Like, gee, I wonder why?

No one wants to put work into anything anymore, they want the easy way for everything. Problem is, when you're always cutting corners, eventually, you're going to fall off a cliff.
