Isn’t Carlson Washington’s Gardiner? Don’t think people in Washington think as highly of him as other fan bases lol

(1) Tavares is likely to sign elsewhere - if he signs for less - it will be the Leafs. Stamkos signed for $8.5 million - could have got more - decided wanted a cup more than the money. (I guess he decided 3 jaguars were enough)
(2) Matthews will get $9 to $10 million - more team toughness required. Don't you wish you had Matthews instead of a Junior B caliber goalie making $10.5 million?
(3) Marner - superb season and playoffs, major reason JVR scored 36 goals. Best player on the Leafs in the playoffs - will get $6 to $7 million a year tops.
(4) Nylander will either take a Bridge deal or get $5 million tops or get traded
(5) Gardiner traded by the draft
(6) Carlson for $8 million instead of Petry/Alzner/Weber for $18 million (all old and long term deals - yummy)

Had a good year offensively and is 6'3". Did not see enough of him to see how he plays in his own end. Can't possibly cough up the puck like Gardiner.

Really? I mean, yeah he played well this season, but did literally every other Canadian goalie not want to go?

Pretty sure Anderson was at least, partially concussed in the last game. He took quite a few shots off the noggin, some pucks, some shoulders. (Backes, Marchand, etc.) He'll be back and better next season, but if they don't fix the goalie interfernce stuff, they'll do it again next season.

Did Babs take a slight step back in his coaching prowess in anyone else's mind?

Still a good coach, but I'm not convinced he's the best coach, by any means.

Matthews got Chara freeing up the other 2 sometimes 3 lines for a chance without Chara is what I got from that....plus Brown's usually not too bad around the net. It was the lack of PP's that really killed us IMO...even in the last game...AM sets up Brown on a break and he's pretty much hooked off the puck...I think the ref was combing his hair in the glass or something.
- Garnie

I have a lot of complaints about the refs this series. Might have even won it if they hadn’t (frank)ed us as hard as they did the first two games... but the 3 games in TO, and this final game, they evenly put the whistles away. No complaints there. Leafs are at their best when they get a flow going, and constant whistles don’t help that.

Leafs just came out flat in the 3rd. Could have handed them some PPs, and they wouldn’t have done anything with them. They’re still a young team, and they can get shaken, and they struggle to get their feet back when they do. Adding some good vets could help out.

Part of me wishes we had some dirtier players.

People think Boston is tough. They’re not, they’re just full of poopty human beings. The team, too. Getting a bit of that on the roster, just to let the other team know that they’ll get what they give... that’d be nice. Kadri walks that line, but he’s too emotional. Need someone more calculating with it... who won’t tell the media that he was trying to send a message, before a suspension hearing.

Yeah. It's been pretty one sided.

Just like the Marlies game. Marlies are outplaying Utica but they're down 3-0.

Hate to admit it, but I think you're spot on about Kadri and needing a few players like that. Kadri is basically too honest about his dirty play, cause he does it when he's legitimately fired up, not when he's being sneaky and calculating.

The way the game is going, especially in the playoffs, having a few sneaky dirty players, ala ratface, can be a huge asset. Players that get under other players' skin without getting penalized too much.

Anyone that wants to trade Nylander...kill yourself. Not debating, just saying in my opinion you should kill yourself. But Zez, how will we upgrade the D? By you killing yourself.

Marner doesn't play a physical game, but he is not soft.

in fact, he is one of the few people who wasn't thrown off by the playoff physicality.

- Aetherial

Agree totally. Marner isn't big enough to be a heavy hitter, but he's the opposite of soft.

I saw him taking the hit to make the play frequently this series, which is one of the reasons he had so much success.

Has he gotten slower, or has the league gotten faster? Also, he had that one year where he was actually a decent scorer, didn't he have around 20 goals? Then he just seemed to forget how to do the offense thing. He just doesn't seem very good anymore.

Haven't been watching, but I saw Nashville had 20 shots to 4 for Winnipeg in the first.
Sounds like Nashville is dominating, but their losing the goal tending battle.
Is that about right?

If Nashville keeps throwing that many shots on net something is bound to get through eventually. Either a deflection, or the goalie will just miscalculate on a shot at some point.
It's like us relying on Andersen to stop 40 shots and getting mad when he lets in a "softy". If they have too many shots eventually they get fatigued or just miscalculate on where to put their glove/stick/pad slightly and it gets by. Fire enough routine shots on net and eventually even the best of goalies will make a mistake.

On the other hand, he might be getting into the Nashville players' heads by this point, which would make things easier for him. The Winnipeg players really need to step up though if they don't want this to get ugly.
