I hear ya and at no point did I say it was a slam dunk, it was a suggestion and your detailed explanation here is great, much better than "Calgary says no"

The flip side is, they do have Sam Bennett at C and Brady Tkachuk can also play C! My point was mainly that no team likes to skip pretty much an entire draft year, whether they have a built D core or not.

With all that said, I do agree that the Flames would most likely take a pass...

Re-uniting the Tkatchuk brothers would be kind of sweet, I gotta say. Nothing is impossible but my guess is the Habs' best option to find a new C is to try to work a deal with the best #2 centres they can find on teams like FLO (Bjugstad)...

I simply cannot understand why you would take the same 2 guys that failed to build a franchise and didn't win ONE playoff series in about 10 years over there to turn your team into a contender.

Might as well hire Bergevin!

Add a bunch of negatives together, and you're bound to have a positive sooner or later, right?

Or sign JT

Bjugstad is also an interesting option for sure... Gabe Valardi from LA, although he hasn't proven anything yet, is looking like he could become a solid C

Maybe this time we won't have to, the C issues have to come to an end eventually, right??

God I hope so. Who's the last "legit" #1 C that the habs had?

It only works when you multiply. Addition will never solve anything.

Ok, so if they copulate, they'll get a positive, gotcha.

they will re-sign Plekanec, give Paul Stastny a 7 year/$49 million contract, and bring back Desharnais.

mission accomplished.

I think Zadina will score more over 82 games but Tkachuk will be a good playoff guy. Really depends what you are looking for. I think the habs need more offense on a daily basis right now than a playoff gritty forward.

Alain, Evans, Poehling, Ikonen. One of them will be our #1C within 2-years if we dont land someone big through free agency.... so one of them will be our #1C. Likely #2C in there too. My bet is that Poehling and Evans fill those spots more than the other two but the more shots on goal here the better.

Edit* I am not arguing they will be among the best, just that they will be our centers of the near future.
